A while back, we saw a video that made us laugh It was about these 2 pups that were playing in the snow.
Well, this past weekend, it was my birthday so Mom & Dad took us up to Dodge Ridge and let us run and run until we were pooped!
I even put a paw towards trying so snow sleddin' myself! Take a look!!
OMD! It was so much fun!
I was very tired and stiff after this. Still, today, my back is sore... but it was WORTH IT!!

Yesterday, it was my one year anniversary for being with my forever family! Oh, what a wonderful day we had!
Daddy took us to the mountains and I got to run all over and pretend to be a rabbit! I was hopping in and out of bushes and stuff! My goodness I was runnin' so much by the time I was done I was shaking like a leaf!
Mom is going to call or email Dr. Klingborg. She's never had a pup that would get the shakes after exerting themselves. Last weekend, we went to Monterey and I was so tired I was shaking like I was at the vet... Mom thought it had to do with memories of a storm we went through last time we were there. But this weekend, there wasn't any reason. I just sat there with my ears back, my eyes wide and trembled. Mom remembers when Sammy did that when his back spasmed. She wonders if something like that could be going on with me.
I broke more nails while I was up there too. Gosh, am I ever accident prone!
Today I'm lying in the sun recuperating my secret powers.
Mom was thinking about where we were last year and how very sick I was back then. She still wants to cry thinking of how I would have been euthanized for being "distemper positive" because of my test came back positive, but it was because I'd had 2 vaccinations in 2 weeks, and I had kennel cough, so I had some of the symptoms... but it was a false positive. How many shelter pups die because of these false positives?
Well, not THIS one!
Love you! Off to snooze again,
Jenny May
UPDATE:
Dr. Klingborg wrote back to Mom:
There are different kinds of muscle fibers-- some that make us better at running marathons, and others make us sprinters. People and dogs have both types of muscle fibers, but not in the same percentages. It is possible that Jenny has one type over another, and is building up some lactic acid in her muscles-- causing cramping & spasms. Maintaining hydration is the key to help with this sort of problem.
So, guess I get more to drink, huh? Wonder if they'll give me Raspberry Iced Tea?

So, I keep getting told I look like a hyena or something. Mom doesn't think so. Then someone said I looked like an African Wild Dog. Mom looked it up. I do resemble them, but I'm most certainly NOT one. I have less teeth, and I'm the most domesticated dog you ever met! Nothin' wild about me! O.k. other than my kisses! And my ears aren't round like that either!
I'm doing great. I'm up to 43 pounds, all leg and when Mom bathed Mickey and I yesterday, I still have no undercoat. I mean NONE! The water hit and it was hair and skin. Worse than ever MOM's hair! BOL!
I peed in the shower. I hate bathes still. Mickey is doing much better with them now since Mom got one of those shower heads you can take off with a hose. He doesn't have to be lifted in the shower any more, so he is happy and got major zoomies. Not me. I sat under Sammy's big-big tree and pouted. I barely took my super treat, but I did because if I didn't, Mickey would have.

Mommy finally got a moment and was going to thank efurry pup for the wonderful presents they gave me for my first birthday, but they are gone off our front page! You used to be able to see your history (somehow) but we can't figure out how. So, please bear with us while Mom thanks each and efurry one of you.
I have a new video!!
I lay down funny, and Mom has been wanting to get in on video, in case, on day, I change my style.
Does anyone else lie down funny? I mean, to get into that perfect position? Sammy used to "nesty" before he would settle. He would scratch and scratch and toss his head up until he got it just right.
I wish I had known Sammy & the rest... I know I would be a better girl for it.

Tomorrow, I am gonna be 1 year old! Mom is sad because I'm not technically a puppy any more, but happy because I am here and party of this loving family!
Instead of prezzies (not to assume I'd get any, but...) can anypup that wants to send me a gift send an anonymous rosette to any pup of their choosing and tell them it is a game of Birthday Tag and not gifts for me?! Oh, what fun that would be to see the thread!
I can't play much on Friday, as we are going out of town, but I will do my bestest to thank everypup that plays!
UPDATE:
Its happening! There are anonymous pink rosettes going around with this:
A Very Special Girl is Turning One ! Won't you share in her Birthday fun? She wants us to play a game of Anonymous Birthday Tag. Please pass on an Anonymous rosette or treat to another fur. Then run over & post yours in Plus Fun!
And a Thread started in FUN!
I wanted it to be a secret for a while, but my sweet dear friend, Sassy, just was burstin' to tell efurry pup!
Remember, I don't want any presents, just send love to others and ask them to join in the fun, kay?!
I love you all!

Well, all that kissin' Wally finally caught up on me.
Mommy talked to a Catahoula Breeder this morning! He was a super nice fellow. He talked to her for quite some time all about me and what to expect. He said, from my website and Mom's description of me, he is quite certain I am Catahoula. He said he would be surprised if I had ACD in me! Oh, GOLLY!!
I learned about this breed, BIG TIME! If you were curious about Catahoulas, read this!
All about Catahoulas
The man is a doctor, and when Mom told him about my leg issue, he suggested she begin giving me Knox Gelatin to help my joints. It is readily available at health food stores, but we don't have any here, so we'll get ours online.
How about that? I changed my breed information to Catahoula and ACD mix, as I doubt I'm pure, but I'll let you know when I get fully growed!
If you think I'm not, please write to me and let me know. THANKS!

I love to play! I love to rough and tumble with Buggy and even Wally!
Mom has a hard time gettin' us to stop, and ends up yelling at us.
When we play, I love to get bowled over, and crashed into.
Yesterday afternoon, Mickey & I were out back, pre-dinner playing and he crashed into me, as usual, but this time, when I got up, my eyes were big and my ears back. Mom told us both off for playing so rough and then told me to come to her. I wouldn't use my right back leg. Just hopped on 3 legs, like my angel brother Sammy used to do. Mom burst into tears. I got to Mom and I flopped on my back. She massaged me, and manipulated my leg, to see if I reacted like a break. Nothing. Moved the joints. Nothing. Generally pressed on my muscles. Nothing. Checked my paw and toenails. Nothing.
For the rest of the evening, Mom watched me like a hawk. I am still gimpy a little, but at least I'm using my leg again. Here are my symptoms:
Not wanting to extend my leg back. Not wanting to sit. Bunny hopping (how appropriate for a "rabbit"!). Will walk on it, but suddenly will pull it up.
I am more than willing to play still, and Mom is keeping either me or Mickey on a leash to prevent that out back.
HELP! I don't wanna not play any more!

I need help with my fears. I am beyond afraid of water. Hydrophobia! Mom says I have hydrophobia! And I DO NOT have Rabies!
It all started when I was a little girl at the shelter. See, I was super sick. They had to clean the run I was in (with 4 other dogs), but I was too sick to get out of the way of the hose. So they hosed me. Possibly in my face, too. When Mom & Dad rescued me, they immediately bathed me, as I was covered in poo and other lovely items. I was afraid, but too sick to fight much. The next time I was bathed, I pooped in the shower, so very afraid of it. Then last next time, Mom took me to a self-serve dog wash place. I screamed like she was bathing me with acid. Now, Mickey was bathed before me, and he was fine.
So, on Saturday, we had to wash our car, and we were at a car wash that you use a wand and stuff. Mom was in the car with us, and Daddy did all the work (as usual). I was so scared, I was shaking, my eyes looked like they would pop out of my head, my ears were back, and I tried to crawl under the seats (but the back seats were down, so it would be impossible). I climbed into Mom's lap, then onto the floorboards. Mom didn't fuss me, and she didn't even acknowledge my fear. She did try to sing. That usually calms Mickey, so she tried it with me. Nope. I cried and acted like there was a swarm of bees trying to sting me!
Then, last night, I was taken for a walk and I was super thirsty. I tried to drink out of the gutter (a BIG no-no for us), so Mom found a spigot for us to drink from, but I yelped and tried to back out of my harness when she offered it to me in her hand.
Jeepers! I gotta get over this fear! Mom says, one day, I'mna be too scared to go out into the rain at this rate!

Over the past few weeks, I've changed again! Auntie Alison was shocked when she saw me! I have gotten long legs. Now we aren't sure if I could have greyhound or whippet in my blood, but I sure do have LONG legs, and a skinny LONG tail. But I hold it like a hook behind me, not under me.
I bark like a squeek, so that hasn't growed up yet. I'm super strong too! You should see Daddy when we walk. He gets so frustrated, because I don't listen well. I get distracted quickly, too.
They are really being tough on me now. When I came here, they let me be a puppy and stuff, but now they say I have to have this stuff called "Manners". Whatever that is!?!
I sure am trying to make Mom happy. Wally, the orange cat, has been biting me a lot, and I just whine and wait for him to let go if Mom doesn't notice. I'm being more careful with Mickey and not pulling Mom's hair so much. But I can't resist Auntie Alison's hair. She has super long hair that I just have to have in my mouth!! Mommy tells me to "Drop it" and I usually do, but sometimes they have to take my scruff and really tell me loud! :-(
Well, I guess this is all part of growing up. Mom & Dad have raised many pups, but I'm the first one they are going to TRY to get me to be good with people and dogs. So, they are trying new techniques. I'll let you all know how they are workin', kay?

Over the past couple of weeks my fur has been changing. I no longer have the fluffy, long coat that begged your fingers to get lost in it.
Now, my fur is short, but still soft. It is so short and so soft, it almost feels like it isn't there at all! Mom says I feel like I have greyhound fur!
She has me on great kibble and puts salmon oil in my food every meal! I had been losing weight, but now I'm quickly gaining it back... Mom's meals just didn't keep up with my growing, I think. I'm filling out my frame nicely, but still... my undercoat is GONE and the hair is short... The fur on my lower spine is coarse and longer, though.
Mom asked Dr. K what he thought, and he said I'm probably just changing my coat, and I might end up getting my old coat back. Mom sure hopes so!
Mom would think I was mixed with a greyhound, but for the fact I am far too clumsy and slow to be one of those magnificent creatures!
My fur still looks exactly the same, until you touch it. Hmm.. I'm an original, I guess!
