Birthday: October 24th 2003 Likes: Ear rubs, feeding time, walks, car rides Pet-Peeves: The other dogs taking over his bed Favorite Toy: Stuffed bunny Favorite Food: Salmon treats, apple Favorite Walk: Anywhere Best Tricks: Stealth. Arrival Story: Helping Paws had another greyhound named Alex, whom we met first. We considered him for a few days, and by the time I contacted Pawtropolis about him, he was already applied for, but we hadn't met "Billy" yet. So we took all three girls out to meet them both. We applied for Alex, with Billy as the alternative, since we really liked them both, but we met Alex first. Alex was adopted soon after, so we adopted "Billy" from Helping Paws/Pawtropolis on November 7, 2008. His new name came from the initials of his registered name. He seems like a Petey to us :) Bio: PD is a retired racer, rescued directly from Ebro in Florida. He ran 150 races in his career, with 42 wins. He is 28" tall at the shoulder, and weighed 77.3 lbs on 11//10/2008. So far, he is a charming and affectionate dog, with no apparent issues from his track days. 5/28/2009: PD has integrated into the pack. He's loosened up a bit and become goofy and affectionate. He has killed and eaten 2 birds (that I know of), and killed but not eaten a bat and a young possum. September 2009: PD now weighs 81lbs and looks great! Forums Motto: Am I home now? I've Been On Dogster Since:
This has been a pretty good week. All of us went for a walk yesterday, and momma was really happy that I did "sit" twice without her little reminder. I'm training momma to bring my bed into which ever room she's parked in. I had to remind her last night once, but she's catching on.
Tara thought she was going to take MY rope toy from me last night, so I told her otherwise. She was pretty surprised - she ran over to momma and said, "Can he DO that?" Momma isn't taking sides - she says it's up to us to work out the pack order. She only steps in when it's looking like a fight, or if the disagreement is over who gets to be close to her. But... momma also says that ALL the toys belong to her, so if there's a serious disagreement, SHE gets the toy and we don't.
Momma left yesterday morning after breakfast. I was sleeping at the time, but I looked for her when I got up. She had said something about "work." I ran and played with my sisters out in the yard.
I was so happy when Momma got home! A little while later, my foster mom came over with my foster sister, and we all hung out in the back yard for a while, but I was too tired to play. I thought my foster mom came to get me, but momma held onto me when they left. My foster mom left my blanket here, and a couple of my toys, and a fleece coat that my foster sister didn't like. Momma made me wear it outside next time we went out. Devi took my toys.
Some time before bed, momma passed out those yummy bone shaped cookies, and she was real happy that I did my "sit" with just a little reminder.
After yesterday's entry, I decided to chase my new sisters while they were playing out in the yard. They're so slow! I had to try really hard not to run over them.
Momma took me for a walk in the afternoon, just me and her. We met a neighbor and his little one. The little one had an apple and I really wanted to share it, but momma said no. Then around the block a ways, I got glared at by a kitty. We saw another kitty, just up the street, but it didn't seem to notice us.
This morning, I was trying to run with my sisters, but Devi and Natoli kept trying to make it wrestling, so Momma put them in the garage and I ran and ran and ran all around the yard with Tara! We had a great time!
