Arrival Story:
On 11/04/2008 I found an ad on craigslist..."3 1/2 year old, female, fawn Pug needs new home. Family has no time for her anymore." So I contacted these people & asked as many questions as I possibly could before going to look at her. Eventhough I knew this could be risky, everything sounded okay so I arranged to see her. Once we got there I saw this sweet little girl who had lots of visible problems. I knew this was way more than I could take on but I was not about to leave her there so home with us she came. We immediately took her to the vet & got some very bad news & a very high quote. I couldn't take her back to where she came from so I called our local Pug rescue at the time, Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. I told them our story & within 5 minutes they had an appointment for Dora scheduled with their vet. The next day we went to the vet (11/05/2008)...she tested positive for heartworm, she had an ear infection in both ears, she had fleas & very bad flea allergies so she had some scabbing on her body from itching, she is blind in one eye & the other eye isn't doing so great. We absolutely would not have been able to help Dora become a healthy, happy dog without the help of Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. Dora is now free & clear of heartworm, fleas & all infections. Unfortunately, all of the neglect she received before coming home with us caused her to have sight & hearing problems.

So, I went in on 12-11-2008 for my HW treatments & got to come home the following evening on 12-12-2008. I was really sleepy & a little sick to my tummy but I am feeling so much better! I wanted to thank all of you for sending me best wishes & thinking of me while I went through this. You all have been the best furiends a girl could ever want! I love you all, Dora

I've been on my med's for almost 1 full week & I am feeling so much better, thank goodness! I finally barked for the first time today, Mommy was SO excited (crazy lady BOL). I'm the luckiest girl ever, I have a loving family & the best dogster furiends! I'm so thankful ♥

My next appointment is on 11/18/2008 & if the doc thinks I'm good to go then it's time to tackle the heartworm issue.

I luv you all! Dora
