Leave a bone for Maverick

Special Gift Box:

Arrival Story: Hi, my name is Maverick, and I am an Adopt-a-Husky success story! After fostering me, my Mommy decided to keep me forever. I love my Mommy and my home, and my Mommy loves me. Together, we have gone to training so that I could learn to behave really well; and now I know how to sit, lie down, walk politely on my leash, leave things alone when my Mommy tells me to, come when called, and stay until my Mommy tells me I can get up. I’m not perfect at these things yet, but I’m getting a lot better. Of course, I’ve always been house-trained. Life at my adopted home is dandy!
But now my Mommy is ill. On a lot of days, her health won’t let her get out and take me for walks, like I need. My fur makes her cough a lot, and sometimes, when I really want to be right by her side, I can’t.
Please Take Me Home with You I am a beautiful 2-year old, and I weigh about 60 pounds. I am a talker, and I love to be the center of attention (just ask my classmates at the obedience school!). Now, I do think that cats are wonderful moving toys, and I tend to be quite rough with them. I don’t mean to hurt them – but if you have cats, then I probably should not come to your house. I get along great with other dogs. I used to be quite the escape artist… I haven’t tried to leave my Mommy’s yard in a long, long time – but I might still have a bit of that explorer in me, so you probably need to keep an eye on me, at least at first. And I used to dig to make a cool spot in the dirt for myself, but ever since Mommy got me my own pool, I’ve stopped digging. I love my crate – it’s my special “den” that I go to whenever I need comfort. I know my Mommy will let me bring my pool and my crate with me wherever I go.
I don’t want to leave my Mommy, but I know she is too ill for me. Is there someone out there who will let me come be part of their family?

Bio: If you are interested in adopting Maverick, please submit an application through Adopt a Husky of Dallas (http://www.adoptahusky.org). A home check is required through the application process, so if you are outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, we will work to arrange a home check but may be unable to do so. Adopt a Husky of Dallas will not ship dogs.
