Valentine's Day - The Groomer Spa Treatment

So Saturday morning Mama woke Teddy & I up unusually early for a Saturday. So where were we going? We piled into the car (literally - we make a doggy pile on Mama) and rode a while. Then we went into this wonderful little shop called The Animal House. There were treats and clothes and lil tutus...it was bright and colorful and hmmm - full of really nice people. So I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my big brother Teddy was shaking in his boots about this place.

Well, he is a big scaredy pup when it comes to Mama leaving us anywhere. After all, he knew exactly what was going to happen. He is nice and usually pretty still when Mama brushes him...but I am a dragon when it comes to someone fiddling with my long flowing hair. Yikes...next thing I know it is snip, snip, and Voila - I look just like Teddy. We did look extremely good and smelled wonderful. We even got little red bandanas for Valentines Day.

All in all it wasn't too bad. I feel much better without all that extra 'hair' weight. What an awesome way to lose a couple of pounds! The only draw back is that now it is kinda hard to tell Teddy and I apart. Mama says the dead give away is in my kiss - she doesn't call me Kissee girl for nothing. I love to give kisses! Seriously Mommy, get with the program!

Okay, so January is coming to an end and Mom still hasn't taken me to the groomers. I got a serious comb out, bath and blow dry on Sunday and just wouldn't sit still. Now I look and smell really great but my hair is getting so long.

Mom needs to get with the program and get some pictures of just the beautiful lil me on my web page so everyone can see how much I have grown and see my beautiful long dark hair before Mom takes me to the groomer and has it clipped. Once the dark tips are gone, I am going to look just like Teddy underneath.

Mommy is back to the obedience training again. I have sit and stay, down pat. I can sit and watch Teddy do his little tricks to my heart's content. I get treats just for looking at Mommy when she says 'watch me' and sitting there looking pretty. I got them all so fooled...Muahhhhhhhahahaha! I can't resist the urge to lay down and roll over though when mom asks me nicely with treat in hand.

Teddy is turning into a little show off. He is now 'sitting pretty', looks like begging to me. He listens to mommy most of the time - sit, down, stay, come, heel, and sit pretty. He will make a complete fool out of himself for a treat. But he will not roll over. I show him over and over - I don't know what his problem is, he rolls over whenever he wants mom to scratch his belly. I am so much smarter than him! LOL.

Well that's about it for this entry of growing up with Teddy but the main point of this entry - Mommy, get with the program.

My last vet appointment

Last Wednesday, New Year's eve, Mommy took me to the vet for my last puppy booster. I weighed 8.5 lbs! I'm getting so big. My personality is really showing now. I love, love, love, giving everyone kisses! Dogs, cats, humans...it doesn't matter, they all taste so good!

The day before my well puppy visit, mommy decided to take her first attempt at grooming my brother Teddy. He was so nice to sit still for mommy the entire time. He looks pretty good for a big goof! Mommy is going to take me to a groomer soon. She has been taking Teddy every 6 to 8 weeks for a while, but I haven't gone yet. Mommy says she can't bring herself to have my beautiful hair cut. But she has to have me done professionally a couple of times before I will let her touch me with those clippers. I barely hold still for my combings and brushings now.

Mommy did trim my bangs so they weren't hanging in my eyes. The hair growing back underneath looks just like Teddy's. So while I am long and flowing with a dark coat now, once she gets me groomed, I will start looking just like Teddy...complete with a Bichon curl on the top of my head. Ha ha mommy!

Trip to Petsmart

So Saturday afternoon, Mommy and my sisters took Teddy and I to this huge store for animals, called Petsmart. Mom wanted to take me because Teddy gets terrible shakes and stresses when he goes on his own, so here is little ol me, going for moral support of my big brother.

But it was so much fun! My big brother was just fine with me and the sisters along. I did not have a fearful bone in my body. I was showing off and taking treats. I got to meet so many nice humans and dogs too. I met some Morkie puppies, then some full Yorkies. I kissed a big black lab and then also kissed a Bullmastiff. It was swell and the humans just gushed all over me!

I was completely fine until my human sister decided to go look at these swimming things in big tanks. While we were over there, this little toy fox terrier decided to bark at me and I hid behind an aisle. Yeah, that's right...I had just kissed a bullmastiff but the toy fox terrier no bigger than a Chiahaua scared the bajeebers out of me. Go figure!

I was all ready to leave when we met up with a little dressed up Shih Tzu pup, just about my age. She was really great and we made fast friends. Mommy was in the check out line by that time...but I can't wait to go back!

Rainy days

Okay, so I've been in this house for six days now. It is getting colder outside and last night it was raining and the wind was blowing me all over the place. I have to say sorry to Mommy because the potty training went right out the window. However, I don't want to apologize because Mommy subjected me to a bath in the sink! Yuck!

At least she made Teddy go first. As I watched my big brother repeatedly try to jump out of the sink, I laughed to myself. He's so arrogant with his long fluffy white and light brown hair, to see him look like a wet hound dog cracked me up! I had no idea that after his blow dry she was coming after me. ME!!! The PUPPY!!! Sure, the fur around my bottom was a little stiff and yellowish but really does little baby me seriously need a bath! I have to admit I felt much better afterwards, and smelled of some exotic fruit (coconut). But I still got her back by piddling on the floor, HA!

Teddy looked so good! Of course, Momma got the camera out and started clicking away. I'm sure she will be adding them to the web page soon. Teddy and I played with our rope and daddy found Teddy's favorite toy - his goose (Teddy had hid it somewhere and forgot where he put it). The goose works well for tug of war as well. By picture time, I was getting tuckered out. I voluntarily went into Teddy's cave (crate) and cuddled up with my new teddy bear blanket.

The highlight of my night was sitting with the 'wise one'. Brandee really is the Yoda of the dog world. She even acted like she was playing with Teddy and I for a while and let us run in and out under her legs.

I've been here almost a week now, and other than the bath, I am really enjoying myself. Until last night, I had been going outside to potty or using the convenient puppy pad by the door. I must have forgot myself last night. But then with the wind and the rain, even the old wise one threw caution to the wind and did her business 1 & 2 on Momma's floor. Poor mama!

Day One in My New House - 10/31/2008

Okay, so it's Halloween and all these big human creatures are dressed in these crazy costumes! And at 6 am this morning I went to live with my new forever family.

First meeting - Teddy looked like a lighter bigger version of me. So I can deal with this big kid. The new mommy looks kind. I wagged my tail in approval as that Teddy character growled in jealousy.

My new mom soon showed me that she loved me, but she was going to spend the day with that big kid while I got to know the house and that way she could pacify that Teddy character. So first I meet my knew big (human) sister whom I was here to love. Big Human Sister took care of me most of the day.

So the house looked huge, or maybe I am just really small. There was all kinds of things to smell. And man, the place was a zoo. First the Teddy character and then this ANCIENT old Chinese wrinkly female - will just call her the "wise one" came up and thought that I needed my face washed. Then this huge gray 'it' cat came up to sniff me - I licked him! That will show him to get in my face. I saw that there was a little black cat in the shadows, even lighter weight than me at my sturdy 4 lbs, but she seemed aloof and didn't come near any of us.

Wow, after my drive from Topeka, and then my drive home to my forever house I was tuckered out so I took a nap with my biggest human sister.

I woke up from my morning nap to find that there was yet another human sister. She was much smaller than the biggest sister, and she wanted to pick me up and carry me around all day. But we went outside and played and had a great time.

So by afternoon, I was ready to try to make friends with my big brother Teddy again. Man this bro was arrogant. But he let me be around him for a while.

So night falls and we go 'trick or treating'. More humans dressed like crazy things. I rode in a nice cozy purse though and I was not scared at all. I poked my head out the entire time.

When we got home, my new Daddy was there. He played with Teddy and I and I really liked him. Finally, Teddy started to warm up to me and by 11:30 pm on my first night, Teddy and I were caught playing tug of war with my new pink leash.

Man I'm tuckered out and going to bed. But I think I'm going to love my new forever home and being Teddy's little sister.
