Arrival Story:
We had been looking for a lab but found and fell in love with Kyla. A while later (and after some serious talking the parents into it) we got the okay to adopt another. I put myself down on the wait list at the humane society for a lab and a few weeks later got a call that a litter had come in/ We let Kyla pick out her favorite and the rest is history.

Bio:
we know she's lab but haven't been able to figure out her other half. Guesses have included husky, chow chow, pit bull, shepherd, whippit / she's very small at only 45 lbs! OH well- one thing is for sure, she's a cutie. She's had major joint issues since day one. Started out with her front right. She had to get adiquin injections for six weeks which seemed to improve the situation. In Nov 05, she had surgery on her back right. I don't remember all the technical terms, but her kneecap kept slipping out of place. None of it was fun, but we do what we gotta do. She's a trooper!

I knew bad things happened there

So on Nov 17 mom took me to the vet and left me there... I was taken into a back room and don't remember much of what happened. But when I woke up I was in a strange cage and my leg hurt a whole lot. I had a huge cut and the strange people kept telling me I'd be okay and that they'd give me plenty of pain meds. Whatever pain meds are, they sure did make me sleepy!

I woke up a few times and looked around for mom - I was sure that she'd left me there for good. The next morning I ate a yummy meal and drank plenty of fluids, just like I was instructed! I guess mom heard that I was being very well behaved because soon after she was there to pick me up! I was never so happy to see anyone in my whole life! (Except maybe the day she picked me up from that loud and overstuffed animal shelter!)

I got home and was never treated so well! Mom brought me my food and water and treated me like a princess. She even kept that naughty old Kyla away from me for a few days! Of course, she didn't have to. Kyla knew I wasn't feeling well and kept her distance from me.

I still don't understand what happened to my leg and why I don't remember it. But mom kept telling me it was worth it and that I'd feel better in no time! Well, she was RIGHT! My leg is doing a lot better and I can actually walk on it and put weight on it. Mom is telling everyone how great I'm doing & I love hearing her say that!

But she also says I'm overdoing it when I run from one end of the house to the other and she tries to stop me. Come on mom, I'm technically still a puppy - I think I'm allowed to run once in a while.

Oh well, I think I'll go lay on my favorite couch for a little nap.

Merry Christmas!

Mommy took me to the vet just over a week ago, and now she keeps talking about this surgery. I don't know what surgery is but she says it will make my back leg feel better. Thank goodness! It started hurting real bad just as soon as my front leg started feeling better. Maybe because I was too focused on my front leg to know it was hurting before? Mommy always says the vet just wants to make me feel better, and I guess I believe her. But the vet always pokes me with a pointy silver thing and she offers me treats I dont like...

I always know when we're headed that direction and I start trying to hide in the backseat when we pull into the parking lot. When that doesn't work and mommy gets me out of her car, I try to sit and not move. It never works because mommy always ends up dragging me or carrying me inside. Scary things happen in that office, but I'm always glad to leave because mommy gives me special treats and takes me on walks by the river or around the neighborhood!

I rovey rou mommy!
