Favorite Walk: Axle loves walks in the forest. Best Tricks: "bang", 'crawl', 'wave'... the list goes on Arrival Story: I came across the breed a couple of years ago and fell in love with them. I luckily found someone with a litter not too far away and got Axle! Bio: Cao de Fila de Sao Miguel's are a rare breed that come from the Azores in Portugal. There are not many breeders in North America yet. All dogs are brindled and range from very light gray/beige from orange to very dark and many have a white area on their chest. Normally their ears are cropped rounded, very cute look actually, but mine are not cropped.
They are loyal and extremely smart and high energy. You need to give these dogs their exercise and if possible some sort of job to do, even if it's just carrying water bottles in a backpack for some of their walks. Generally they probably will need a very firm handling as they naturally have some aggression and their herding instincts are very strong. Once you can prove to them that you are the pack leader though, they willingly do as you ask and are always happy to learn new things.
