Arrival Story: I'd been wanting a Border Collie for as long as I can remember. Lots and lots of reading and research later I had made the decision to reserve a puppy from a breeder I adored. After a bit of thinking I decided that wasn't the right path for me. I still wanted a BC, but I preferred to rescue. I applied for approval through the ARC BC rescue. After getting my home checked out and after Wyatt and I were approved I was excited to finally be able to check out adoption prospects. I found a potential dog in an 8 month old male, but chose to foster him for the rescue for a bit instead of adoption. He didn't quite fit my home, so after his neuter he was placed into a home with a family. During this time I was pet sitting for one of the ladies that was involved in the rescue and I cared for a litter of 6 week old puppies. That's when I first saw met Zen. I was in love, but a couple from Washington state had a claim on her so I gave up hope on her. A couple weeks later, Zen's foster mom let me know that the couple had backed out on her adoption. I immediately went over to recheck the litter and make sure I really wanted her. She went home with me a few days later.
Bio: Zen picked me when I went to choose between puppies. Though I was in love with her from the start I went back out to the farm to make sure I was making the right choice. Zen's sister was a supremely intense dog who wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. She focused solely on herding their foster mom's chickens. Her tricolor brother was the same way and her biggest brother was a bit too pushy. Zen was the happy go lucky puppy who responded to me when I called for her and followed me around with a pair of happy paws tripping across my shoes. She's been my little buddy and Wyatt's sidekick since.

Wee! I've never, ever seen more than a flurry and today I got to play in my first real snow! And man ... what a good first snow! It's bucketing down here! I ran around with Wyatt in it ( he doesn't like it so much ) and it come up to my knees! I was trying to catch the snowflakes and chomped the snow all over the ground! Such great fun! I hope all you other pups get some snow!
Hello everyone! Hope all is well! I have exciting news for all Virginia dogs! The Pet Expo is coming this Saturday, Feb. 21st, and will benefit humane societies around here. My ma, Wyatt, and I will all be there to support the event and to work the stand for ma's job, All Dog Playskool. We're having an agility demonstration too! I wish I could partake!! On Friday ma is taking me to Dogma to get a bath and get my nails painted all pretty. She says I'm even gonna get a bandana. :) What an exciting weekend! Hope to see you all out there!!
