Arrival Story:
Clovis is a Blue Doberman Pinscher that we rescued from the Humane Society. Clovis had been abandoned and was a stray dog when animal rescue picked him up. He was eventually transferred to the Humane Society when they learned that he was listed to be put down. When we met him, Clovis had severe heart worm and was terribly under weight. He was shy but loving and had a gentle warmth and soft eyes. We nursed him through his heart worm treatment over two months, and gave him a loving home and plenty of kibble. Today, Clovis is incredibly strong, confident and healthy. He's now over 100 lbs, and loves to play and run around.

Clovis is a giant baby who loves to sit on your lap and insists on being pet all of the time. He likes to stare at people until they give him a big hug and pet him. If you decide to stop petting him, he'll continue to nudge your hand until you get the hint. His favorite thing to do is lay his head on our laps while we are sitting on the couch. He can do this for hours at a time - and often does! I've never met a dog that wants to snuggle with people as much as Clovis does. He truly thinks he's a lap dog, and if you sit down on the floor in our house, you better be ready to have Clovis sitting on you, demanding affection. At first, Clovis did not play with other dogs very much, he would kindly acknowledge them, but did not seem to want to play. But over the past few months, we started bringing Clovis to the dog park and he has learned many dog games. Now, when he's outside, he loves to run around with other dogs and dig, play, and wrestle. Clovis is often the envy of the park as his gentle nature and blue markings contrast his large size and big dog presence. People can't believe how nice he is, even as other smaller dogs sometimes nip at him.
