Arrival Story:
I found an ad in the classifieds for puppies and drove about 40 miles in the middle of nowhere to visit. The house (and yard) was a mess, and they had numerous dogs running around. They took me to the fenced in back yard where several puppies were fighting for dry kibble. One little puppy looked up at me, then ran over to me. She then looked to the gate, went to it and tried to squirm through the crack. She looked back at me. I felt like she was asking me to save her. I wish I could have taken ALL the puppies. I picked her up and told the people that she was the one. I told her that her name was Rachel. It was my favorite name, and since I knew I wasn't going to have a daughter, I wanted to give her that name. We got in the car and she rode in my lap all the way back to the city. She kept looking up at me. I took her to the vet the next day and he told me she was malnourished and may die. She was very underweight. He told me to be prepared just in case. Rachel seemed to have a will to live, and she showed so much love to me and my husband. She became healthy very quickly, and she was a huge asset to our family! She loved us with all her heart.
