On Aug. 30, 2008 we lost our beloved Bonita to GME (encephalitis) and soon after I received an email from the DFW Pug Rescue Club stating that they needed foster homes urgently. A week later the foster coordinator called and asked if I could please foster a little fur boy. I wasn't sure I wanted to foster a boy puggie, but couldn't seem to say NO, especially after she told me the story about him. He was found at a kill shelter somewhere between Waco and Killeen, TX in the first week of August and weighed only 9 pounds and was taken for emergency care at a vet in Meridian, TX to stabilize him (he was there 3 days before he could be moved) to be sent to one of the DFW Pug Rescue's vets in Fort Worth, TX. He was at the vet's in Ft Worth for a month until he could be medically released for foster care and adoption. The had named him Sleepy since he would sleep all the time (goes to sleep anytime/anyplace, sitting/standing/laying down or in your arms like a baby). My husband and myself took one look at him and we were lost!! A day after we started fostering him I sent an email to the foster coordinator and told her we wanted to adopt "Sleepy" and also made the comment that we had to stop fostering as we always adopted our fosters and we now have a full house. Five (5) Puggies, 4 parakeets and 2 humans. Just too much love!!!!!!!!!! My husband and I are so lucky to be loved by these terrific little pugs!
