Arrival Story: My finace' and I had been looking for a new companion for quite a while. I had been on petfinder every day for months, and finally i decided to adopt from my local Humane society. Well I made a list of about 10 dogs at my H.S. from petfinder, and we went to the H.S. and took out a few dogs. While i was walking another Andy said we have to take out this one (she was at the bottom of my list) WE took her out and fell in love with her, but we did not take her home that day, we decided to think about it longer, so we went back the next week, and played with her some more, we were still not sure and confused so we waited another week. After that week had passed,
Emi was still there and no one had even been interested in her, and the H.S. told us she had been there for more than 2 months already. We took her home that day, and are happier than we have ever been. December 11th 2004 marks her 1st month with us!
Bio: Emi is a black and tan APBT mix. We think she is mixed with some sort of hound, though the possibilities are endless! She plays like and behaves like a pit bull, but acts very houndy with her nose to the ground and tail curled in the air when we are out on walks.
Emi has really cool ears, and can position them in many different ways- 1st she does the trianlge ears, 2nd the semi-prick ears that stick out to the side and flop up and down when she walks (these are especially funny), 3rd, she will put her ears all the way back in "convertible" / rose ear position, it looks very apbt, and like she has no ears! Lately she has been trying to stand her ears straight up and this is very funny, because they flop over at the tips. Also she does any and all combinations of these ear styles at any given time for a very comical appearance. Emi's name is Japanese, (pronounced Emmy) and has 2 meanings, Smile and to be Blessed with Beauty. She has fully webbed feet, a lot of muscle and a super Sassy personality! She loves her "Big Brother" Samonosuke the Cat, regardless of how he feels. Emi is about 60 lbs. Emi spent about 3-4 of her 1st 6 months in a shelter, and for not growing up in a stable home she has adjusted remarkably and we could not ask for a better, more loving and greatful companion and Gaurd dog! She feels it is her job to gaurd us, and when she is on patrol she will sit right next to or on us and stare and listen moving her ears about. She will not give kisses or pay any attention to us, She takes her job very seriously! Woof Woof! ()'o'()~

Ok, Ok so i take it back, humans aren't so stupid, they just have strange ideas of what fun is. Take snow for instance. This is my first experience with Snow, being a puppy and all, and i think snow is just the greatest thing ever! The girl keeps saying something about having short fur and that snow is cold and wet and how i need to hurry up, but i think she is crazy. There is nothing more fun than running through the snow, and digging for buried treasure! One thing i don't undertsand is why do those long human legs move slow slowly through the deep snow? You'd think girl would be able to keep up with short little me!
Oh Yea, what's a sled? Girl was talking about one of those too, and she says it would be alot of fun, but i am still skeptical about the humans idea of fun (see humans are stupid).
Well I am off to chase the cat(s)! Yes Cats! I brought home Bagheera, a little black cat and i just love him soooo much!
I have been way too busy playing to tell all you's all about it! Just wait i pawed off some pictures of him too!
Editor's note: Just to set things straight and share my side of the story, I was wading through a foot or two of snow for her today and not for 5 minutes either-- we were walking for almost an hour!
And . . . she failed to mention that she got to kiss 2 handsome young men at the vet's office! She was kissing sooo much, i was blushing! Good thing she's spayed! ;)
Ok, today was injustice. Usually when the girl puts stuff in a plastic bag and we all get to leave in the car it means we are going to either the bark park or petsmart. We went somewhere else.
It was raining up a storm today as well and i really don't like the rain.
We went to this place with nothing to sniff in the front outside, just a bunch of cars, then we went to this room with nothing but chairs and a really tall desk. i could hear a barking dog in the far back, through many doors, but my leash couldn't reach.
so i had to sit on the cold floor, and do nothing for what felt like a whole day with nothing to sniff at and no one to play with, my humans were busy. i liked it when the lady behind the counter came around and petted me, she said i was Adorable! Well that was the highlight of my day actually.
So after an eternity we went to a small room, with this metal table thing that i could walk under, and nothing else to sniff either! Well then all of a sudden the table moved on it's own all the way down to the ground! Then they expected me to get on it! I fought for my life, there was no way in hell i was getting near that. That thing must have been spooked, didn't they just see it move?!?!?!?
Finally they put me on it, it was ok, i did not like standing still but i got off of it pretty quickly. After i thought i was safe! That table raised back up!!! These humans must be crazy to trust this thing now! But sure enough the boy picked me up and put me on it. Tried diving over girl's shoulders, but she caught me! Damn! I got A treat to sit, but seriously, 1 treat, not exactly a fair trade.
Then it just got worse, they all kept touching me, my feet, ears, teeth, tail, legs, all of me! Lights in my eyes! Horrible. But the worst was the sharp poke i got in my rump that has made me a little drowsy! How can that make me feel better? Humans are stupid, i tell you. This place was not fun at all. They had better take me to the dog park soon, i have earned it.
Well i am going to go dream about the ducks by the creek, maybe i'll slip my collar tomarrow and catch one!
