His bed, being buried under blankets, sleeping, riding the car, being as high as he can on your chest or shoulder and just sitting there.
He doesn't seem to have any unless one of our pups bugs him too much.
He doesn't play with toys - just wants to sleep or be held.
Cheetos and sugar ice cream cones. Just the crunchy part.We had a hard time getting him to eat anything at first but getting his teeth fixed helped. He gets SOOO excited to eat now.
Somewhere you're not looking so he can sneak off and pee.
When he wants your attention, he has a high-pitched squeak of bark, which he only does once. But he sneaks up on you to do it, so it'll scare the bejeebies out of you if you're not ready for it.
I volunteer at our local city shelter 3 days a week, taking pictures for their Petfinder site. Rufus was found as a stray. I saw this little guy come in and instantly felt sorry for him. His nails were overgrown. He was skinny and nearly bald. The few teeth he has are in very bad shape. I knew that with his age and condition, he would have been put to sleep unless his owner claimed him or someone stepped in to help. I contacted some rescue people I know who found someone who was willing and able to help me save him. __________________________________ On my next visit,I got Rufus out of his cage, put him on a leash and took him outside to potty. He immediately came alive the second he was outside. He did his business and took off for a walk, he was very excited to walk around the parking lot. He seemed to be ready to jump in the first car he could find and take off. I eventually took him back inside, got him a clean bed and blanket and locked him back up. As I turned the corner, I heard this tiny, pitiful howl. I went back around the corner to see who it was, thinking it was one of the puppies in another cage wanting attention. I was suprised to see that it was Rufus. He cried and howled, wanting me to take him out. I opened the cage again and he bounded toward me. I carried him around for a while and the staff knew that I'd eventually take him home. When I told my husband about what Rufus had done, he immediately told me to go get him and bring him home even though we already have four other dogs and weren't looking for a fifth. Is he a great guy or what? __________________________________ Once Rufus's 5-day hold was up, we brought him home. We still intended to give him to the rescue but after that first night, that thought went out the window. We decided his last few years will be spent here with us if at all possible.
When we first got Rufus he was almost completely bald. It was most likely due to stress, poor nutrition and a bad flea infestation as well as his age. After a few months of good food and a secure environment, he's looking SOO much better. He's got the beginnings of cataracts and has had several teeth removed. Several of his vertebrae that are fused together due to either ruptured discs or an old injury which causes him to walk funny but he gets around ok, so he's probably been like that most of his life. Basically, he's the most pitiful little creature you've ever seen. Whenever we take him anywhere with us, people ooh and aah over him. He doesn't much care as long as he stays warm and fed.
