Arrival Story:
I Got a phone call from a friend, asking if I would be interested in adopting a blind Pomeranian puppy. Of course I was a little hesitant about taking on the responsibility of another pet, and a blind pet was something I had no previous experience with. I was down to one 22 year old cat (Wee Wah) in the house and had been telling myself, this was it. Nevertheless, I said I would like to meet him and we could go from there. Well, meet Jake I did and needless to say that was it. I took one look at that little ball of fur with his happy baby puppy face and I was in love! Before meeting Jake I'd checked out numerous web sites about blind dogs, as I wanted to do my best to make sure Jake's life was as happy and normal as possible. While we did have hopes that Jake might have an operable blindness, we learned that Jake is completely blind and it's not an operable condition. The way the doctor explained it, we all have a disc of some sort on the back of the eyes and Jake was born without them, a condition which can't be corrected. Nevertheless, after all was said and done, Jake surpassed all hopes and expectations to become the most joyful, loving, confident, little man around. In the same month that I adopted Jake, I also found myself adopting two other cats as well, one less than a year old cat who had been left in an apartment when the tenants moved out and a calico kitten who showed up on the back yard patio. So within a month I had a house full of new pets.

Bio:
Jake loves his feline brother and sister, Moe and Koko. Wrestling with Moe is one of his favorite passtimes and racing through the house all three chasing after each other is another. Jake also loves playing catch, inside and outside of the house. He'll go into the living room and wait when I tell him to, "go get ready" and then I'll toss the ball to him and he'll pounce on it, catch it and bring it back to me to throw all over again. Outside, he'll go down to one end of the yard, and we roll a ball to him and he's on it every step of the way. Of course there's huge applause with each catch and return, which he just loves. He also loves going down to the beach, where he can run full out and meet up with all his buddies.

Mom and I went to the beach today, WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!! What fun!!! I ran all over the place and we had the beach almost all to ourselves, except for two new little friends that I met, both came running down to meet me, Darla and Mimi, two cuties and both smaller than me (I like that). Hopefully, next time mom will bring the video camera. What mom did post here today, is a pic of me napping on the bed when we got home, while she's on the computer.

June 15, 2009 - Aunty Jay brought me 2 bones

Aunty Jay came over on Monday and brought me two delicious bones :), aunty gave me one and mom put the other one away for another time. I like to hide my bones around the house for awhile before I actually start working on them. I always think my kitty brother and sister, Moe and Koko will try to get them from me, so I take hiding my bones very seriously. First I hid the bone in my basket/bed under the cushion, in the kitchen, next, I hid it in a little nook in the bathroom between the tub and the vanity, (mom took a picture of me guarding it there and posted it here on Dogster), later I took all the toys on one side of my toy basket out, and pushed the bone into the bottom of the toy basket, then nuzzeled all the other toys over it (it was really well hidden then) and at the end of the day I finally pulled out the bone, and began enjoying it. Wherever I hide my bone, I usually sit by the hiding spot on guard, just to be extra careful. Mom keeps assuring me that the cats don't want my bone, but my feeling on that is, you just can't be too careful.
