Arrival Story:
My husband and I saw an ad in our hometown Nebraska paper that Japanese Chins were for sale. The breeders said that some co-workers backed out of adopting the puppies and now they were 3 months old and the breeders were unable to find homes for them. There was a tri-color one, a fluffy black & white one, and another black & white one. The fluffy one was the most calm and loved to be on her back. When we went home, we thought about it, but the fluffy one was too cute to pass up and so we adopted Mia. We took her to Texas where we live now and she's been happy ever since.

Bio:
Mia is very friendly and loves to lick anyone who obliges! She's very alert and sleeps lightly, but when she does snooze off she usually likes to stretch out into the funniest positions. She also loves to SMILE and pretend she's a bulldog!

Mia got spayed on Thursday. The vet wanted her to stay overnight to make sure she didn't have any reaction to the anesthesia and that the sutures were okay. I guess dogs that are under 30 lbs don't have the dissolvable kind on the outside. So she'll have to go in in 10 days to have her sutures removed.

She's pretty groggy and won't let me put her on her back to see her stitches, but from what I could tell, they looked fine. I'll have to give her some pain medication tonight. They said that they have to pee a lot when they get fixed, but she hasn't seemed to want to go.

Mia is 6 months old now. She seems to be adapting quite well to the Texas humidity and heat. She never goes outside except to relieve herself and go on walks. She seems to have allergy problems, though. She always sneezes, especially when she gets really happy and excited.

She also is adapting quite well to her kennel and does very well spending her morning napping so that we can come to take her outside during the lunch hour. Sometimes, though, we are unable to come home. One time she spent 10 hours in the kennel! We felt so awful, but she did really well. Never made a mess! We compensate it by letting her sleep with us during the night. She loves cuddling up right next to your bum! You have to be careful to not squish her in the middle of the night.

Also, Mia is getting spayed on Thursday. We are very worried that she won't be comfortable during that time, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
