Arrival Story:
We wanted a dog that was active & that we could do lots of fun stuff with, after looking at a few rescues we decided, "why not just get what we want" well...the Vizsla didn't pan out (kidding!).. but after knowing ONE Aussie, I knew that's what I wanted; dragged the bf up to meet her and he couldn't say no. BUT bf's come & go and I have to say that Mia was the best thing ever to come out of a break-up. She's been a handful for sure, but she's always by my side, looking up as if to say "what's next?"

True to the Aussie breed she's sensitive & biddable without an ounce of stubbornness. She lives to make you happy, and what greater joy is there in the world than throwing the ball?! :-) She was fearful from the day I met her @ 5 weeks, and by 6 months she was so fear-reactive that I was a wreck. We worked a few times with a trainer who's method's didn't sit well with me based on her reactions & after one disastrous day that again left me in tears he told me that I really needed 'one of those 'clicker-trainers'. We found one (Nan Arthur with Whole Dog Training) & she's blossomed to become something a bit more closer to my 'dream dog'. I got the dog I 'wanted' (see also: Dot) later, Mia was the dog I needed. After going through so much with her & really & truly seeing how all-over the charts Aussie temperament can be, I don't think I could ever love a dog more. ***Mia lived a happy life with me for the majority of her (nearly) 2 1/2 years in this world. It wasn't an easy road; and she was NOT an easy first dog to have, but we learned, grew and my life was never boring with her around.

It's easier now than last month, I can think or talk about you more & more without crying..or when the random person from the dog park asks I can give them the story without breaking down. I know that this feeling of missing you will never truly go away though. We went through a lot together didn't we?

It get's easier, a little bit at a time. I still miss you flopping over my legs as I put on shoes in the morning prompting your early morning belly scratch/snugglefest. You weren't a snuggly dog by any means, but that was the time, and I miss being late to work because of it.

I am still haunted by your shedding, did you seriously stash away tufts of fur for me? It makes me a bit sad, but I also laugh every time a new "Mia molecule" flies out after moving anything.

Your Grandpa misses you so much, you brought so much joy into his life and always cheered up another 'blah' day for him. Despite my "no people food" ban, he managed to surreptitiously teach you to eat off a fork. We were talking today about you and all your odd quirks; how you grunted & groaned in the morning for scratchies and always gave "the paw" (in such a delicate way) as your default behavior when you didn't quite get what someone was asking of you.

I miss your sweet face; looking at pictures is the worst I guess..because then I can associate all of the quirks in my memory with something.
