Arrival Story:
We/I adopted Birdie into our home in 2003. She was retiring from making puppies. She wasn't that into motherhood by the end of things--said it'd been blown up to be more awesome than it was. She did make a couple of healthy cuties, though! I met her son Babalu first, hanging around at a dog match in Pleasanton. At the Frenchie social corner, I met Birdie's breeder who determined that Birdie and I had a personality/temperment match. She was spot on! It's been joy between us ever since.

Massage #2!

Tomorrow morning I go get my second of six massages! They're free, because my moms' friend is starting a canine aquatherapy and massage business. The Rex Center. I am one of the six dogs she's massaging as part of some kind of licensing process. I fall in the "glamorous and adorable" category. (My mom says I'm actually representing the "older dog" category, but she's lost her head to too much hot chocolate). Last Saturday I ran all around that place like a spring chicken! I knew it was a dog place, and it was clear to me that they had emptied all the other beasts out so that it could all be reserved for yours truly. Yes! Like a spring chicken, I say. A spring chicken. After my massage, my mom got some kind of oil on her hands and offered them to me. Was it some kind of adoration ritual? I didn't know! I liked the smell, though, so I let her adorn my coat with some of it. Then, I slept on the way home and stayed sleepy for the rest of the day. Niiiiiiiiice and relaxed. Tomorrow we go again! G'night!

Digestive Wonderings

Well. Today I went to a picnic with my mom, and she buckled and fed me some chicken and rice that might turn me into diarrhea dog later tonight! It was awesome. There was a little Chihuahua there named Star, and Star's mom was taking the chicken off the Korean chicken wings at the picnic and mushing it together with rice for her. I was going wild (i.e. wiggling) with anticipation! (The chicken wings were coated in flour and fried with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce that would have really sent me over the edge with excitement and straight to the vet---so my mom only got chicken bits from by the bone---far from the outside coating). Anyway, she gave me a few bites and gracious goodness--it was better than the glucosamine and chondroitin peanut butter joint treat I got this morning. (I pouted and pouted when I only got one this morning, but she didn't give me a second one. I think I might have wondered what was wrong with her, but I can't remember now....everything's great, isn't it?).
Anyway. Lots of people pet me at the picnic, which made up for the fact that it was San Francisco and the temperature dropped 15 degrees over the course of 2 hours. I was freezing! I used my natural birth-given Frenchie senses and quickly found the softest, warmest blankets on the ground and lay down in the center of them. Now I'm home again. Full and exhausted. Ahhhhhhh. Time for a nap.

Snorts of Dissent

I'm lying here in my donut bed, snorting. I think I'm snorting in dissent, but I'm not totally sure. My mom should be taking me out to poop, but no biggie. I'm a Frenchie. Go with the flow.....Hey! Where's my breakfast?

My mom has been thinking about getting me a little sibling. A frenchie sibling. I'm not too worried...
Wait. Will it mean she gives me my breakfast even later when she doesn't have to go into work in the morning? Unacceptable! (snort). Will it mean that another little dog will get more adoration on our street than I get? So unpleasant! (snort. snort snort.) Will it mean that I'll be bullied? I'm pretty submissive.....well... I'm really submissive. (no more snorting).

Nah. I'm submissive, with an ego that compensates. If that little thing tries to take my yarn ball or squeeze its wiggly frenchie butt into my bed by snapping or growling at me, mom will school it. School it fast! Ahhhhhh....(clear the sinuses loudly)......where's my breakfast.........
