Arrival Story:
Beamer is my first G. Shepherd. He is WONDERFUL - but very, very large. 125 lb. or there abouts. He lives with my husband and I and our other dog, a Husky named, Montana. Although Montana is much smaller, between the two he rules. Still, when Beamer wants to play he know that all he has to do is go for Montana's paws. Montana hates to have is paws touched. Beamer is all about love. He is so full of love it just falls out of him. And he loves little children, especially little girls. He'll let them ride him, tug at him, and he'll protect them at all times. We have no children. This just comes naturally. Once, I was at an abandoned school letting the dogs run when a woman came with a younger Rottweiller and a little girl. The dog would not leave Beamer alone - which Beamer was not happy about. He had not been fixed - which I was not happy about. And definitely had not been trained whic no one was happy about. The little girl fell from a swing which got Beamer's attention immediately. After he checked her out to make sure she was okay, Beamer took charge and kept the Rottweiller away from all of us, even the little girl. He circled, growled, nudged, and let that hyper-dog know who was boss. I was SO impressed! A true German Shepherd.

Getting better!

It's been two months since my surgery. I can move around pretty well now and even get to take short walks with Mom. The doctor says I'm healing exceptionally well but it will be another two months before I can be outside with Montana all day or go up and down stairs. Hard to be in the house all day!

But Montana is with me. Mom tried the Doggy Day Care thing. It lasted all of two days. Montana moped around, looked like he was being punished, wouldn't eat, and actually got a little sick. So he's with me in the house all day now and we both like it lots better.

I loved Christmas! Mom was home from work most of the time (has to use up some Annual Leave) and we had lots of parties and visitors. It was great! Mom and Dad got us some nice Christmas gifts too. I got a new, unbreakable frisbie that I can't wait to try out. Montana got a shiny dog dish and a special bone. I also got a sweater for outside but even though it was the biggest sweater made, I'm bigger than the sweater so we gave it to a Greyhound friend in need of some warmth. Mom's going to have to sew me one.

Best of all, it's been SNOWING! YEAH! We both love the snow - especially Montana. Love to romp and play in it (though Mom won't let me run yet). But we do get to go outside on leash and that feels great!

Thanks for the bones!

Gee! I didn't realize I have so many friends. Thanks for all the bones, rosetta's and everything. I really feel loved!

It's been a little rough lately. I want to do SO much more than my leg will let me do and when I try, everything hurts. I've even had a little diahrrea. But Montana and my family have been great.

Montana can't handle being alone outside all day. He can see me in the house in the family room from the side fence and just won't be alone! So, for the first time ever, Montana dug out of the yard a couple of days ago. In almost 13 years he's never tried to get out of the yard, but in 13 years he's also never been alone.

Yesterday and today Mom put him in the house with me. We have an acre of fenced yard, (most of it lined with railroad ties) but when a Husky wants to get out, THEY CAN GET OUT! It's SO nice to have his company all day long though. We are both happier.

Mom and dad don't like leaving us both in the house all day alone so they say they are going to take Montana to Doggy Day Care for a few weeks though so I can get better and he can play with other dogs. I'll miss my best friend.

I'm ALIVE!

Well, it's been over a week since my knee operation and I'm feeling lots better. But I still can't walk very well and Mom or Dad have to take me out on a short leash so I won't run or get hurt. The worse part is that I'm stuck in the familyroom most of the time. Mom won't even let me sit on the deck out back because she thinks I'd want to run up and down the back stairs - a definite No, NO so she's probably right. This is going to go on for at least three to four months they say. Ick! It was nice having Mom at home taking care of me for the whole week though. Mom and Dad even slept on the floor with me so I wouldn't move around too much the first couple of nights.

Montana hates it! He wants to play with me and run outside. He especially doesn't like being in the backyard all day alone. He's even started to dig under the fence to get to the familyroom, so Dad put him in the family room with me today as well. That's what he gets! Wish us well.
