I smell a rat!April 8th 2008 7:57 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
I really did. Then I cornered and caught that little beast. The folks were very silly about the whole thing. Jelly just looked at me like, "Wud'ya do that fer?". Dim girl.
My pack at the beachSeptember 9th 2007 12:03 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
My knee has been feeling so much better. Today me and the pack (all 5 of us) went to the beach. What a great time! I met and played with many new dogs, and taught Pepper how to get in the water. It felt so good to be at the beach again, plus it's great that Pepper likes running with me into and out of the water. Good times.

Well little Pepper McPeppy is back. She was pretty happy to see us. We are sorry that her new home didn't work out, but glad that she's back with our pack. She PT decided to put her up on Dogster so that everyone could meet her. I wonder how long it will be before I decide I don't want to share anything with her......
I'm back!!!August 26th 2007 10:30 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Sorry I've been missing lately. Things have been really crazy in my red dog life. So I had my first knee surgery back at the beginning of the year, and while I was still healing, I hurt myself again. So I've pretty much been corralled for 4 months. Aaaaak! I've not been very happy about this. Plus, the PTs brought another down-on-her-luck dog home to foster. Lucky me. At least she kept Jelly busy. She went to her (hopefully) forever home today. J and I have rested peacefully today. Sigh. Well, I'm gonna check out other dog's pages out to see what everyone else has been up to.
Back on the trails!!!April 11th 2007 8:42 am[ Leave A Comment ]
My leg continues to heal and get stronger. Jelly's house domination is totally over!!! She was teasing me by running around me beyond jaws length (and shooting her Jelly Death Ray at me), but not anymore. We are having fun again wrestling a little and playing toy tug. This past weekend we went for a hike in Mission Trails. Boy that place smells great. I really missed it! So we went on an easy hike on a fire road, but I was tired by the end. The plan is to get me back to day hike strength and then hopefully I'll be ready for backpacking by mid summer. I'll do my best to plant the seed of doubt in the PT minds about NOT having me carry my Wolf pack (har har).
AOK at 6 weeks!March 30th 2007 3:45 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
I had my 6 week post op exam this past week. According to my surgeon, everything has healed up nicely. This is great news since I'll get to ramp up my activity to little walkie plus. J and I are playing again (no running or chasing though!), and I had no idea how much I missed her. So my walkies will get longer, I can visit the beach, and I can SWIM!!!! Yay!

I made it. I had TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) surgery on Wed. to deal with a blown cranial cruciate ligament (akin to a human acl) in my right stifle. I feel like hell really. I'm hobbling on all four legs again, and I'm very doped up on pain meds and sedatives. Pretty much I'm a grumpy grump. To their credit, the PT's are doing their best to take care of me. There are med schedules, leashed potty excursions, belly rubs, cuddles, encouragement to eat and drink, and trips to the vet. I'm super high maintenance right now. As it should be. I've only got two more weeks of the e-collar (when not supervised) to deal with my incision, and then another 4 weeks until the recheck with x-rays. I'd better get a puzzle.
The VerdictFebruary 10th 2007 3:32 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Bummer dude. I'm going to have surgery on this next Wed. on my knee (specifically TPLO surgery). According to all vets and other information consulted, this is the best course of action for a young and active dog. If all goes well, I should be cleared for fun by late spring/early summer. Geez that sounds like a long time. I'm a little worried aboout being cooped up for so long. Thanks for the well wishes and rosettes from my doggie buddies. Keep your toes crossed for me. I'll let you know how the surgery goes....
3-Legs just biteFebruary 9th 2007 8:31 am[ Leave A Comment ]
It's been a bit since I've updated my diary and so many things have happened. Unfortunately, I've forgotten most of it so I'll spare y'all the jabber. Most recently, I've hurt myself in a bad way. A couple of weeks ago, I was motoring at the dog park and took a bad step. My knee (or stifle as the alternative canine designation) felt just awful. I limped for a few days and then everything seemed ok. I went to agility a week later. No problem. Then I went to the park and aggravated it again. Ugh. That weekend at agility, I was having some issues. A quick trip to the vet and x-rays confirmed that I'd injured my knee and probably my doggie ACL (AKA CCL or cranial cruciate ligament). So now I'm on an anti-inflammatory and a sedative since I was too wiggly. I'm headed to see an orthopedic specialist today (who is highly recommended by my vet), and I'm crossing my doggie toes that he'll be able to help me out.
Merry Getmas!!!December 26th 2006 11:25 am[ Leave A Comment ]
That is what the PT's have been calling the holidays since they read a particularly funny Brewster Rocket cartoon. I love Getmus. My favorite bunch of present bearers were in town and really did a nice job with my presents. I got many stuffed animals, snacks and lotsa love. Uncle Mikey's little baby Eli talked to me a bunch. He'd say "ahhhhhh", and I'd run over to be sure that he hadn't dropped anything edible. He never did, but the others apparently had a hard time finding their mouth and/or keeping the food on their utensils. Very good for me. Jelly is not as quick at picking up the dropsies, but she doesn't need to be. She really just helps herself whenever she feels like it. "Oh, hot pecan pie. My favorite. Snarf, snarf snarf, hooooooot." She's been a real brat lately, and I cannot believe that Santa STILL brought her presents. And so many! I'd calculated a the "goodness" factor of 5. So if Jelly got 2 presents, I should have received 2 x 5 (10) presents. Very simple math. Instead, I apparently only got 3 toys and Jelly got 1. Wrong and bad. I should have at least 5 toys! And of course Jelly runs around going "My Frog. My squirrel. My hedgehog. My deer. My Orka Jack." Oh wait. I guess I got 4 (the Orka Jack is hers). Closer, but still WRONG. Anywhoo. I hope everyone else had a great time with their families and happy NEW YEAR!!!
