I was skinny and scared running around a flea market next to a busy freeway. When a nice lady saw me she knew she had to help me. She somehow caught me and decided to bring me home (it was obvious I wasn’t owned by anyone). She would have kept me except the apartment she lived in wouldn’t allow more than 2 dogs and she already had 2.
That’s when she asked another lady to foster me. I got very attached to her and didn’t want to get adopted, whenever my foster mom brought me to an off-site adoption I just sat in my cage and shivered. Whenever I was taken out I would make a beeline for my foster mom. A few times when volunteers took me out for potential adopters I would slip my leash (I was a master at that!) and run to my foster mom.
After 4 months of being up for adoption my 2nd chance came. A young couple had seen me on petfinder.com and after calling my foster mom they decided to make the 4 hour drive to visit me and see if I got along with their grey hound (she was a racetrack rescue). When they came at first I ignored them but after a few treats I kind of warmed up to them. At first I growled a few times at their dog but I got used to her. After spending about an hour with me they adopted me. Later on when my former foster mom did a follow up call my new parents said I was doing very well, I loved my new fur sister and was warming up to my parents very quickly.
I got a second chance when the nice lady rescued me from the flea market; I got another chance when the young couple came to look at me (they where the 2nd family who saw me on petfinder.com and visited me).

Finally after 4 months she found her permanent home! This couple where looking for a Italian Greyhound mix as a playmate for their Greyhound (she was a rescued racing dog). They saw her on petfinder and said that she just really stood out to them. So they called the shelter who gave them my contact information and we talked on the phone for a bit and then the next day they made the drive from the bay area to here (which is like 3 or 4 hours!). After spending some time with her they adopted her. I had had her for about 4 months 1 week. So I might take a break from fostering for a few weeks I'm not sure....

So yesterday my foster mum realized that she's been fostering me for 4 month's! For my foster mum that's a long time because her last 2 foster's she'd only had them for a month. Most of the other foster parents that she volunteers with only keep their fosters for 1 week to a month. I'm starting to get the nickname "the Forever Foster" because as one of the workers there puts it "Sunny only has eye's for Nicole (my foster mum)". So far in the time I've been up for adoption only 3 or 4 people have seriously considered adopting me! I kinda turned them off though when I tried leaping from their arms because I saw my foster mum (I'm very attached). I just hope the people who think about adopting me know that I'll become very attached to them to if they adopt me. They'll just need a lot of patience, it took me 1 week to get attached to my foster mum but 4 months to get used to her dad (and I'm still skittish around him). But with a lot of patience and attention I am a extremely affectionate dog.
