Arrival Story:
Hi! My name is "Rory," but some people call me "Kr'msun Nefer-Temu Worth His Wait in Gold," (that's my special name) and I'm a nine week old Pharaoh Hound puppy. I was born in Washington state near this big thing called Mt. St. Helens and I've spent all of my life (so far) living and playing with my Mom, "Deja," and my three brothers, "Socks," "Beso," and "Jag" at the home of my mother's owner Dr. Cheryl, who is a very nice lady who takes sick animals and makes them all better. --- Yesterday, a man named Andy showed up and talked with Dr. Cheryl for a while and then they both came outside and played with me and my brothers. After a while, a friend of Dr. Cheryl named Crystal came over with my cousin, "Ett," who is just three weeks younger than me. It was a good day and we all had lots of fun. Dr. Cheryl, Crystal, Andy, and some other people talked and talked and talked, and before he left the man named Andy said he'd see me in the morning. --- Sure enough, Andy came back just like he said he would. He helped feed me, took me for a walk, and then we went back into the house. Dr. Cheryl kissed me and told me to be a good dog, and then told me I'd be going to start my own life now with people of my own to look after. She said she had talked a lot with Andy and another people named John, who live someplace called Southern California, and that she was sure that, if I learn lots of important type stuff, that I'd have them turned into first-rate Pharaoh Hound parents in no time. --- I was all excited to go--this is the day every young pup waits for; the day he gets his very own people! So I climbed into the carrier that my new Dad had brought with him and together we drove in a great big car thing (well, okay-he drove; I supervised) down to a place called Portland. There we went into a big, echoy building and waited in a line to talk to some other people behind a counter. They made a fuss over me, and made me feel special, and then we got into a big machine. I saw it out the window before we got in--it had wings. After a while it started to move...faster and faster, like when I'm chasing my brothers...then it leapt into the air! It was exciting. And loud, but it made me feel sleepy. So, I'm going to take a nap. I'll tell ya more later when my Dad and I get "home." I can't wait to see it and meet this John people who's going to be my other Dad. --- I think it's going to be a wonderful life that we'll all have together!

My Diary

It's been soooooo long

Oh, wow! PupPals, I can't believe that it has been two whole months and I haven't written to everybody about all the stuff that has been happening around my home. I thought I should have been telling you guys about the special shows I've been going to and my special training over at the Ring Thing place, but not everybody was feeling good.

I should've been letting you know that we all got kinda sick a while ago.

Well, my Grandma got a little sick, and my tummy hurt a little after I ate that lizard, but my Dads got the kinda sick that makes you want to stay in bed a lot.

No fair! I had both my Dads home and they couldn't even play with me like I wanted. Even worser than that, because they were always around, I couldn't sneak into the office room thing they have where they keep the puter thing that I use to tell you all about what's going on.

I'm glad they're better, cause now I can write to you more often now.

Oh, I wanted to tell you about trips in the car thing. When your peoples put a few things in the back of their car thing, that means you should make sure you go potty before you get in, cause they may be driving for a little while. But if you see that your peoples put a whole lots of stuff in the back of the car thing, you better be ready to keep your legs crossed and hope there's no bumps in the road.

My Dad, Andy, had our car thing packed with lots of stuff and I made sure I did all of what I'm supposed to do in the back yard before I got in my backseat and put my car harness on (you gots to be safe like that). Well, I am sure glad I did everything I needed to do, cause we started driving and driving and driving for a whole four hours.

That's a long time.

Anyway, when we finally stopped, we were in the middle of this thing they call a desert. There were buildings and stuff and my Dad said they place was called Primm. He said it was on the border of two states and that's where they had a dog show. These desert things are really hot...did you know that?

I had fun cause they had everything inside a nice big room with carpet that felt good on my paws. I made a lot of new PupPal friends and had fun with another Pharaoh Hound. Her name is Sade and she's a champion. She's also kinda bossy, being a girl, but we had a good time. My Dad got more of those ribbon things and after a couple of days, we got back in the car thing and went home and it took just as long to get home as it did going.

This traveling thing can get a puppy down, ya know?

Oh, hey, I have to tell you that next month is an extra special thing happening and it's right near my house. The call it The National Dog Show and it's happening over at a place called Long Beach in a thing called an arena.

This thing called the AKC (my Dad says it means, American Kennel Club) is having a big party for dogs. They are calling it "Meet the Breeds" and I get to be with my Dads in the Pharaoh Hound booth where I can meet all the peoples that want to see what a Pharaoh Hound is all about. Isn't that neat?

My Dad said that on Saturday and Sunday, December 12th and 13th, we'll be there to say 'Hi' to everyone that comes around, so if you're in that Long Beach place, tell your peoples to take you to see me. I don't get to meet many PupPals and it would be great if we could see each other nose to nose.

Oh, and my Dad told me that on Saturday, we'll be playing in the ring thing again. You know what that means...I gotta stand nice and my Dad gets more of those ribbon things. I hope I get a chance to play a little too. A pup's just gotta have fun.

See ya.

My Dad Did Great - Sure Wish I Did

Hiya PupPals. Boy, those peoples sure do funny stuff and things.

Me and my Dads got back from that Oregon place I told ya about. Going up there was lots of fun. I saw lots of new peoples and they were all reeeeal nice to me and my Dads. A lot of them really liked me and petted me - it was nice.

It took a long time in this car thing that my Dad drove to the Eugene place we was going to. When we got there, I saw all my really special Pharaoh Hound Pals and relatives. There was my Mom, Deja, and my Daddy, (his name is Bosch, who I never saw'd before), and two of my brothers, Jet and Jag. I saw my Auntie Amy and my Cousin Ett and I met a lot of other Pharaohs like Elliott and Phorest and Ruadh and Phoebe and Gemba (we're Pals now) and Allura and Evan and Kahla and Kaba and Io and Rooney and Glory and Feyd and Rio and Tipster and Zelda and Khafre and Menza and Zahi and Sonic and Nadia and Naneh and Zany and Wyatt and Khamsin and and and there was lots of us.

All us dogs took our peoples around the ring thing lots of times and we made sure they got lots of those fancy rosette things. My Dad got some of the rosette things too and he was real happy.

We all had lots of fun and then we went for a long drive and when we stopped we were in this big place called a valley and there were trees all around us on things called hills. It was nice.

There was this big thing called a field with a fence on the outside and that's where I got to chase bunnies. Oh, they weren't real bunnies - they was plastic bag things and they got tied to a looooooong piece of string and a peoples made them go all around the field so we could run after them.

Oh, did we have a lot of fun. I ran and ran and ran. It was great.

We had a long drive back to Eugene and I had a long nap. I was tired.

The next day we went back to that Portland place and got back on that airplane thing. After a while, I got taken off in my crate and that's when I got scared. The peoples who took me off the airplane thing put me someplace funny and my crate slid down a slide thing and I bumped my head when it stopped. I was going to cry, but there was both my Dads and they made sure I was okay.

I was really scared and my Dads were reeeeeeal mad at the peoples who got me hurt. One of my Dads talked on the phone thing today and yesterday (that's the day before today - okay?) and he was kinda mad but kinda serious - you know, like when your peoples is telling you to be good before you chew up something on the floor.

Anyway, my Dad told me that the peoples he talked to would make it so me and other dogs don't get hurt anymore. I liked that.

Oh, I'm feeling lots better and I got a lot of nap time so I get to play more now.

Hey, if your peoples are going to fly on those airplane things and they want you to go to, make sure you tell them to talk to those peoples that make those airplane things fly and ask that you get treated real special. My Dad said that not all of those airplane things are safe for dogs and some of the places that they keep them at (they're called airports) aren't safe either, so ya gotta tell your peoples to check that you'll be safe.

Oh boy, my Dads are home. I gotta go. You guys should write and tell me about when you and your peoples get to go places.

So much going on

Golly everybody…I sure am sorry I haven’t written in my diary until now. I have been soooo busy.

My Dads have been taking to those dog show things and they got a few more of those ribbon things. I think my Dad stands better than anyone else I’ve seen, even my Uncle Robert. My PupPal Elliott says that Uncle Robert would stand a lot better if he gave him treats as good as the ones my Dad gives me.

My Dad said that Elliott is the number one Pharaoh Hound in the whole country. As soon as I found out what a country is, I’ll have to see for myself.

Last week, my Dad Andy and I drove a looooong ways to this place called Santa Barbara. It took sooo long to get there, I had to ask my Day why. He said it was because it was far – about three whole hours.

Three hours! Do you know how much that is in dog years? Me neither. But I can tell you that it’s almost forever in puppy years. I didn’t know if we were going to get there or not…but we did.

It was hot. I stood as best as I could but the heat made me sleepy and I didn’t want to hold my ears up. Well, my PupPal, Cairo – he lives there – he and I were in the same ring and his friend, Nathan, got an extra ribbon after the judge people was done. Cairo’s Mom (her name is Betsy and I like her a lot) was real happy about that extra ribbon. I guess they share.

Anyway, as soon as we were done, Dad and I went home. I slept a lot. I remember waking up and I could smell something not nice. My Dad told me it was smoke from a big fire that we were near. I didn’t like it and I told my Dad. He said that I would be okay and we were. As soon as we got home, my other Dad fed me and my Grandma petted me just the way I like it.

I slept a lot more, cause it was hot outside.

Oh, you know what? I get to see some very special dogs and peoples real soon. Yeah, I’m going to see my brothers Jet and Jag. Of course, I really like their first names, Kiss and Two, but don’t tell them I said so. I don’t know if they’d get mad at me or not.

Thanks.

Oh, and I get to see Dr. Cheryl and my Mom, Deja. It’ll be great. My Dads told me we’re going to fly in a thing called an airplane, just like the one I was in when I first came to where my Dads live. We’re going to this place called Portland, then to a place called Eugene. Peoples sure have funny names for places.

After we get to where we’re going, I get to play in another dog show with lots and lots of Pharaoh Hounds. It’ll be fun.

Oh, I just remembered that I want my Dad to pack all my special bones so I have lots to chew and share with my brothers. Do you share your stuff with your brothers and sisters?

Well, I gotta go. I’ll let you know what happened up in Oregon after I get back.
