Likes: Food and toys are easily in 1st and 2nd place! Loves pet stores, blankets, and walks.-WEATHER PERMITTING. She still likes the dog park even tho she "got rolled" on her very 1st visit!
Pet-Peeves: Mondays, nail clippings, long grass, weather that causes discomfort, when Roland steps on her while she is under the covers. Don't blow in her face whatever you do! CLOWNS!
Favorite Toy: "Audubon Birds with real bird calls" (Not really an actual "dog" toy, but all the chirps and tweets push her to the brink of insanity...as they do me!!! )
Favorite Food: Sausages, (Does that make her a cannibal?),cottage cheese, eggs (esp w/salsa), tomato juice, cheese , but mostly she gets her Solid Gold Wee Bits.
Favorite Walk: Cedar Lake, French Park dog trails, Parker's Lake, Theo Wirth, and Egan dog park. Our default walk is Zachary Park. (If we are strapped for time; it is close, fast, safe, and in convenient proximity to Cub Foods and Starbucks! : D
Best Tricks: Making catfood " mysteriously disappear." Is also famous for being able to magically transform carpet color from beige to yellow...ABRA CADABRA!
Arrival Story: Fairy adopted me last April. It was love at first sight. She was the little gal who said she would help fix the big hole left in my heart left from my little doxie boy Chilly who passed away a couple of yrs ago. I didn't think I was ready yet for another dog. But when I saw her photo on Petfinder, ...there was no doubt!!!
Bio: Fairy came from Underdog Rescue of Mpls. She is a blue and tan Mini D who hardly has any hair! I didn't know why she was such a baldy til I came across the group "Blue Dachshunds" here on Dogster. Turns out ALL blues are like that, and many have skin issues. (Fairy's skin has been problem free so far.) Underdog Rescue embraces dogs that are considered to be "hard to adopt." Please check their website if you are in the market for a pup who would REALLY appreciate your love! PS - Fairy hardly ever barks. She isn't AT ALL interested in chasing squirrels or other creatures, which makes her a good off-leash gal, and a strange dachshund! :)

Last summer my mom took me to a place called a dog park. When she told me where we were going, I got happy cuz I thought the word "dog park" meant that all the other dogs had to go "park" somewhere while me and mom walked around and played. Well I was WAY OFF on that one! It is actually a place where a bunch of dogs can run around loose and do practically whatever they want! (I still like it there, but it would have been better the OTHER way.)
The first time I went there, I was visiting with some other small dogs when a tiny little hairy pushed in face thing came running and knocked me down! I rolled over a couple times and it tried to bite my belly, but my mom quick scooped me up! How rude!
There are a couple of what I think are called "Basket Hounds" that I kinda like. They are close to the ground and long like me with big floppy ears and droopy eyes. (Don't know why their name name is Basket Hound, maybe their birthday is on Easter or something.)
One dog that ALWAYS tries to be my friend is a puppy that is a Doberman Pinscher. He is overly enthusiastic and clumsy. Mom says it is cuz he isn't grown up yet. He has HUGE feet, but THANK GOD....NO PINCHERS!!
I want to tell you all about my friend Blueberry. She is an adorable pit pup that needs a home with a fenced yard. She lives here in the Twin Cities just like me. Please find her in my pup pal section, and look at her charming page! :D What a cute puppy, PLUS she has been to school!!! You can tell by her photos that she is loaded with personality, and what a pretty color! :)
Well, since late fall came, my mom says she has had to loosen my collar 2 whole notches so it can fit around one of my necks. We did a lot of walking around last summer, but then when some moisture came onto the ground, and next an awful thing called a "snowflake" struck, I was for sure ALL DONE walking! I guess there is research that suggests that eating everything you can get your mouth around and no exercise, (like having to be carried to a potty spot), could possibly be connected to weight gain. For now, it is strictly Wee Bits for yours truly! (She even measures it out for cryin' out loud!) :(
Pretty soon we are going to visit the school my mom works at again. All the mini people that are there act like I am a total rock star! :D They all want to pet me and laugh really hard every time I shake my head and flop my ears around, so I am going to do that a lot. I hope I don't get dizzy.
