Writing to everyone in Landser's journal to let you know that Landser has gone to the Rainbow Bridge.
It turned out that he never had Babesia but an autoimmune disease that we have been fighting for many, many years. He had a wonderful vet who gave him comfort, peace and play for the last two years. But ultimately, the prednisone he was one to keep his disease at bay weakened his immune system so that when he developed pneumonia, it took his life within 24 hours.
We didn't know how bad it was. I took him to the vet who was going to put him in an oxygen tent after I left I left and by the time I got home, called to let me know Landser had passed.
I am thankful that I was with him in the last hour of his life but regret terribly that I wasn't there, with him in my arms when he crossed over. When I think back on the last moment I said goodbye....the look in his eyes...I think he knew and I should have stayed. But, I know he knew I loved him. I miss him and it's hard to believe he's gone but I know he is restored to health, playing with his friends who passed before him and I know I will see him again.
Thanks to all who were Landser's friends. He loves you too and will see you again!

Today was a great day!
Since having my treatments for tick borne Babesia, I have gained 10 pounds!!! I am so much stronger now and am almost back to my old self. My mom is sooo happy and she brushes me all the time to get my coat looking better. It grew very dull when I was sick. She says it's amazing how much I've changed since my treatment and always tells me that I am getting stronger every day. I can get up much more easily but the doctor says the muscles in my back legs were damaged by the Babesia organism so it will take some time before I build my muscles up again.
So each day I play in the back yard with my pack for just a little while and then my mom puts them in and she and I play ball for a little while and then I go in to rest so I don't over-stress my muscles. It's kind of frustrating because I really want to play but I know I have to be careful. I don't even want to feel sick again.
I really want everyone to know that if you have ever been bitten by a tick to get checked for any diseases that you might have gotten from them. The longer you wait, the more damage it does to your body and the harder it is to recover.
This has been a really tough 5 months but I finally feel much better, just in time for the holidays! I have a feeling that Santa is going to give me something really special for being such a good boy all year!
My mom says she's going to post some new photos of me soon so everyone can see how much better I've gotten. "Speak" to you later! Woof!!

It has been almost one week after my first injection to treat my Babesia canis. I cannot express how much better I feel! I think it is both the wonderful wishes and prayers that I got from all my pals on dogster and the wonderful new doctor I went to. I am eating now and feel like getting up. I play my my new little sister Chloe (not the Cockers yet. They can be a little too energetic for me) and I play with my Mom and Dad. I feel like chasing my toys now and we play for a little while but then they make me rest so I don't get too tired. My back legs still don't work too well but the doctor says I should get stronger and stronger. We will have to see. I go back to see the doctor on Thursday, so I hope it's good news. Thanks again to everyone who is wishing me well and I will keep writing in my diary so that everyone will know how I am doing.
Wags and Woofs,
