Arrival Story:
A starving little Dee-Dee was taken to a shelter. Sadly, like so many other innocent furbabies, when she wasn't claimed after a certain period of time, she was placed on the list to be PTS! Fortunately for DeeDee, she was taken to the same rescue centre where her new fursister, Sweetie had been taken some three months before.
I don't know what made me check the rescue's website on Friday 19th Sept, 2008 but there she was, and I knew I had to have her. So, on Saturday morning we travelled the sixty-five miles to collect her.
Bio:
DeeDee is a bonny and darling little '10 - 12 years young' lady. When she first arrived home with us, she was a weak and scrawny little wretch with rotting teeth and weighing just under 4lbs.
UPDATE: 12:10 pm Monday 22nd Sept. 2008
We visited the vet lady. DeeDee has a sound little heart and has cataracts in both eyes. She is blind in the left and almost totally blind in the right eye.
Dee-Dee tends to suffer from separation anxiety and follows me wherever I go. Her comfort zone is on my lap!
Like Sweetie, she has stolen our hearts! I have chosen her birthday as 20th September, the day we adopted her.

In the past year DeeDee has gained weight ( now weighs just over 5lbs). She is the cutest little pumpkin and knows just how to push the right buttons; has quite a little paddy on her when she wants something, too.
At times, she is so like our Mr. Spud, it's uncanny. We love her to bits and thank our lucky stars she is ours.
TODAY, 11TH FEBRUARY 2011, despite all attempts to save her, our precious girl's heart finally ceased to beat. Little sweetheart, it was so sudden and unexpected and our hearts are aching. Rest in peace, little poppet. You were and always will be so beautiful and precious, and we will always love you.

To my dear and wonderful friends:
For those who might have missed my 'thank you' posting:
Bless you and thank you for your beautiful rosettes, hugs and kind words of sympathy, and also for lighting candles; it has meant a great deal to mum and me.
My goodness, it’s so wonderful here at the bridge and, what a super welcoming I got from my furbro, Mr. Spud, fursis, Angel Sweetie, and all my fur angel friends … so many hugs and kisses ... it was overwhelming!
You know what’s really great too … I can see again; I know exactly what my mum and dad look like now and I’m not bumping into things either, unless, of course, I don’t look where I’m flying … at the moment I only have my learners licence for flying. Oh yes, I can breathe freely too, and my little heart is merrily going boompity-boom … no more pain and struggling for breath. Whooppeee! Also, when I’m not practising my flying I can run … yes, really run free in the beautiful sunshine!!
Of course, my leaving was very sudden and it’ll be a while yet until mum and dad’s hearts begin to heal. Even so, I’m keeping a keen eye on them and every so often I send down a sprinkling of angel-dust. It’s very good for drying tears, you know, and there’s lots of it available here at the bridge! Hmmmm… I might even apply for the job as CAD (that’s Chief Angel-dust Disperser.)
Well, I can hear the bell ringing … and that means it’s time for angel food.
Gotta go now my friends. Remember I’ll be watching over you.

I heard the Lord's voice whisper,

It's daddy's birthday, see.'

'It is, because, my furry little one,

Now your work on earth is done.'

With your healing hands of love.'
The Lord, he smiled and nodded
Then lifted me up high,

Just had to tell everyone I had a real super birthday on Sunday.
What made it even more special was that so many people remembered me and sent rosettes and happy wishes. It really made my day. Thanks you so much my furpals.
Also, I had great foodies i.e. plenty of meatball with mum's special gravy on my biscuits. (Gravy helps cos I got no toofies! BOL).
Glad to report I'm still doing very well except, of course, when I can't find my mum, then I get all panicky. Sigh, sometimes she's right beside me on my right-hand side, which means I can't see her. She tries to keep on my left cos I can still see a little bit out of my left eye. Sadly, I'm beginning to walk into things now and misjudge steps. Mum says it would be easier for me if we lived in just a downstairs house. She's grateful there's perpex fitted along the railing cos there's been many a time I've spotted her on the stairs and tried to get through the bars. I'd fall about 15 feet if there wasn't perspex to stop me!
My fave is still to be curled up in my blankie on mum's lap. (That's where I am at this very moment!) Shhh... don't wake me.
