Nicknames: Lee-Lee, Pound Puppy, My Whiney Boy, Smiley Riley, Riley Bug, Little Baby, and My Little Surfer Puppy.
Birthday: January 21st 2007
Likes: I like to dig to get out. I am the master at digging. I even make holes in fences to get out! For some reason, though, my girl doesn't like it too much.
Pet-Peeves: I don't like when my girl blocks up the holes that I try so hard to dig. So I just have to dig more and more. Doesn't she know that I'm not going to stop?
Favorite Toy: I really like to chew on shoes. And books. Oh, and I like toilet paper and feminine products. Pretty much anything my girl says I'm 'not allowed' to have.
Favorite Food: I eat Science Diet with mushy stuff with a side of frozen carrots and green beans. I always have some sort of bone to keep me occupied for a while.
Favorite Walk: Psh, walk! I just find another way out of the fence, and I go anywhere I want to.
Best Tricks: I know how to get out of any type of obstacle you put in my way.
Arrival Story: We went to the Humane Society, not really looking to actually get a dog. We went to the little dogs first, and I picked out ones that would be "perfect" for us. My grammy wasn't having it. Then, we went to the kittens. After that, we went to the big dogs. I pet every single one, but I couldn't stay at one cage for long. I kept getting this feeling that made me want to go farther down. I would stop and pet a dog, but the feeling deep down inside bothered me, I WANTED to play with the other dogs and talk my grammy into getting one. When I finally came to this one dog, I started petting him and I didn't feel like I needed to go farther down anymore. I read his paper and it said he was a stray and that he was caught playing in the surf at the beach. I asked if we could walk him, and I felt an instant bond. I KNEW we HAD to have him. So after about an hour of deliberation, my grammy finally decided to put a hold on him and we came to visit him every day. Then, one day, we went to visit him and he wasn't there. He wasn't even in the spaying/neutering kennels. I got worried and asked where he was. They told us he had kennel cough and he was in isolation. We found that once a dog gets kennel cough they usually put it to sleep. If we wouldn't have come to the shelter that day, and if I wouldn't have had that pulling feeling, Riley might not be here. I do believe I am his guadian angel. He fits in perfectly at the house, and I love him!
Okay, so I am new on Dogster since I've only been with my furever home for a little over a month, but I get on all the time and I see all these dogs with thousands of friends, rosettes, febreze collars, and stars. And I'm like HOW IN THE WORLD?! So I try and I try to get involved in everything, but it's so hard, and I only have so many zealies. But I am going to get even MORE involved. I held a contest, and I started a new thread game in the Plus Fun Forum, so we'll see how this works out. I love making new furiends!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the dog park! I love to meet all the dogs and their humans! I love to splash around in the pond and then roll all over in the dirt (though I don't think mommy liked that too much!). I love to chase the tennis balls! I ESPECIALLY love when they throw them in the water! I love to run in the big big BIG open space and make the dogs chase me! Did I mention I love the dog park?
I went today. Angel and I. It is so great for her too! She used to be scared of other dogs and now she's starting to play with them. She was even running around with a whippet! Imagine that!
I was running around with the whippet too. One time, he made me run so fast I tipped over my own feet and I tumbled down into the edge of the pond! I got up and ran right into the pond! That place is paw-mazing! I even check up on my humans and make sure they are all doing okay and then I go back to playing. There was this big big BIG German Shepherd who was running around with me. He liked to play rough! I think mommy was a little scared because of how big he was! He made me look like a chihuahua!
The park is so fun! But now I'm beat! I'm laying down chewing on a snack that mommy gave me and my eyes are droopy. I'll be off in puppy dream land soon...
As you may already know, I was a pound pooch. I have never had a home, and I'm not really sure how to act in one, but I'm doing the best I can. I have lots of room to run, and I'm even learning how to do tricks! I have two other pals to play with. Chester and Angel. [I think I might even have a little crush on Angel (-:] I don't think Chester liked my very much at first, but now we play and play and play, though he doesn't like my biting. I guess he doesn't remember what it was like to be my age.
When I was at the pound, I had been there for about a month. I was going kennel CRAZY! I would get taken out once a day for a walk, and that's it! I mean, when Riley's gotta pee, RILEY"S GOTTA PEE. And then I met my new owners and they came and walked me every day. They played with me in the open fence, and I loved it! I'm so glad I'm home with them now. I've only been here since yesterday, but I feel like I've been here forever!
And to think they were going to put me to sleep because I had the sniffles! I have too much life left, and I'm looking forward to spending it here with the people I love!
But the baths, well, they're gonna hafta go!
Barks and Wags,
Riley, the dog who finally has a home!
