OK, would my life be easy? Well, it seems I tore out my ligaments in my rear leg. That was back in April. After surgery, physical therapy, being carried around and not being able to run all summer, I am mended AGAIN! I am able to chase the squirrels, hit my track and carry on as I please. Almost. I am not permitted to run more than 1/2 hour at a time. Mom is holding firm on this. Still, I am recovered, running, jumping and playing. So, I had great medical care through West Park Animal Hospital, and I am 100% recovered. I just keep truckin'. Woof, woof, to all the birthday dogs today--some 1200+. Love Rusty.

Hi! Boy, it is hard to believe that I have come so far. Six homes in the first 2 years of my life and now my forever home these last 4 years. I survived cancer in my leg, swallowing a bone wrong, allergies, and chronic reflux. I have my own yard, including a track that I built myself. Mom says she can see it from the satellite pictures on Google Earth! I run and run and run. So, obviously, my leg is great and I still burn calories enough for Mom to give me special vitamins. But it is Dad who really knows how to play! He is a blast and when we get going Mom tells us boys to calm down. I am not really sure what she means, because Dad plays a mean game of tug-o-war. I am surrounded with squirrels and rabbits and dogs. I love my daily walk because I can check out the neighborhood. I even get to go when it rains and snows, though Mom sometimes puts this stupid jacket on me that makes me look wimpy, Dad says. I hate it but Mom says it makes her feel better. My birthday treat?? I was surprised with dried chicken filets that are the most amazing thing ever. Mom told Dad they have glucosamine (sp?) in them but I don't know what that is. I quivered when she opened the jar and Dad said I looked like a meerkat because I stood up on my back two legs and just hung around like that quivering from the smell. I guess I was pretty excited! So, life is good and I really appreciate the support notes folks sent me...one fellow said "Run on, Dude" when he read about my cancer. Yes, I have and I am. It does not get better than this. Love to my family and my pup pals. Rusty.

Hard to believe that summer is passing, but man, guess what happened to me this summer? Do you see my new picture with the aqua vest on? Well, I got to go to a lake, not once, but three times this summer!!!! It was awesome and I swam like a fish, Mom says. She doesn't realize that the only reason I was swimming was to get those ducks. They were taunting me, I tell you. I was so close they had to fly away. Grrrr. So, what is with the goose behind me? I guess I was too busy with the ducks! Ha...! Dad told everyone how good I was because I obeyed and didn't run off. It was amazing to go off leash though and sniff around. I met other dogs, people, even little kids. Sure was a great summer! I will be 5 this fall and it just keeps getting better and better. Bye now. Rusty (Romeo Rusty Auburn Pendleton of West Park thank you very much).
