Arrival Story:
My wife Heather had wanted a dog since we were married in fall '03, but we had just moved to a small Berkeley apt and I convinced her that we didn't have the room. In July '04 I was planning a trip to Mexico for my studies and Heather was to be alone in Berkeley for five weeks. Since our closest family is about 80 miles away she said that she needed a dog to keep her company. After researching the breeds that would do best in our living situation she narrowed it down to either a Boston Terrier, a French Bulldog, or a Pug. Of the three, the Pug was my last pick. They slobber and snore, they shed and snort, and, I argued, they're ugly. However, the Pug was the only dog we could afford. The day we went to the breeder, and I saw that little six week old pug trot out all bright eyed and curious, last of the litter, my heart melted. Since that day Sam and I have been thick as thieves, he even forgave me leaving for five weeks to Mexico. Pugs are the best dogs in the world, and Samson the Wonder Pug is the best of the best.
