Arrival Story:
I had stopped in at a local pet store to buy bird food and they had just gotten in 3 puppies (a scottie, a westie, and another that I don't recall now). I watched the little scottie playing with the westie and knew that I had to have him but wasn't sure how I could pull it off. I already had a cairn terrier and a scarlet macaw. I visited him a few more times wishing I could take him home and afraid someone else would come buy him. Then just a few days before my birthday, my boyfriend showed up with my present - the little scottie of my dreams. Now, I know what you're thinking, a pet store puppy? Well, it was 1988 and I was only in my twenties. Isn't getting a puppy from a pet store an adoption, in a way? A year later, when my boss had totally fallen for Ace and wanted to get a scottie, we contacted Ace's breeder and he bought a half brother to Ace that he named Max.

Bio:
Ace was a very tough and dignified scottie. He had an air of nobility around those he didn't know. I had read much about scotties and their temperaments but Ace was never aggressive in any way and loved kids even though he didn't live with any. Ace was just 4 years old when we discovered marble sized lumps under his chin. A trip to the vet and few tests and biopsy later revealed lymphoma. We had just gotten another scottie - a 6 yr old spayed female that we renamed Bea - about a month prior. They were perfect together and she doted on him as he got sicker. Ace went to Rainbow Bridge on April 21, 1993.

Eighteen years ago today I made my journey to Rainbow Bridge. It was a sad day. I wasn't even five years old yet when the cancer cut my life short. It's good to know that I am still thought of often all these years later. Someday I will see my Mom and Dad again and they will be so happy to see that I am the tenacious scottie that they remember so fondly.
