On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy took me to see my new vet. It was a kinda long ride so I snoozed in Mommy's lap. Mommy says I'm a good traveller. When we got there I was a little scared because everyone started crowding around me. They all know Mommy and Daddy and were excited to meet me because most of them were there when my angel brother Shiloh went to heaven a few weeks ago. But there were also other dogs there and I got to sniff noses and butts!
The vet said I am in excellent condition, I knew that already. Except there are wormies in my tummy. Mommy has given me medicine for 3 days. I think the wormies are all gone, but in a few weeks Daddy will have to take some of my poop to the vet. Lucky Daddy!

Finally, Mommy and Daddy came and got me. Even though I had only spent 3 nights at their house I knew it was my forever home and I love it! When we got there, Mommy took me on a nice walk, and then I wandered all over the house, checking out my beds. Yes, you heard me right, I used to live in a horrible metal cage and now I have 3 beds that are all mine!!!!!
We all cuddled, walked some more and then went to bed. It was great!
Today, Daddy stayed home with me while Mommy went to work. I'm not to sure about men, but Daddy is so calm and easy with me. We walked and cuddled, and I napped alot! Now mommy is home and the pack is all together.
Yip!Yip!Hooray!!!!!

Yesterday my granmommy left me with that really big scary man that she says is my grandaddy. He hasn't done anything to me, but when I was at the puppy mill someone like him must have treated me really bad. I am just soooo scared of him!
Well, anyway, I was alone in the house with him and believe me, I stayed as far away from him as I could. He was in the food room, I think it is called the kitchen, doing something and he was singing while he worked. It sounded kinda nice so I quietly scooted down the hall to where I could see him, but still had plenty of get-away space. He looked at me and I skeedaddled! But he didn't stop singing, or come after me. He just kept working in the food room. So this time I went to the edge of that room and watched him. He would sort of glance at me every now and then but he never came near and he kept on singing that nice soothing song.
When he was done, I ran back to the sleeping room, just in case it was a trick. But maybe he isn't too bad.

I just got used to the smell of this lady who calls me Ruza and says she is my mommy. Yesterday, she handed me to some new people and left. Mommy said they would take good care of me until she got back, but I don't like this one bit! First of all, the man is scary! He speaks to me with a real soft voice and when I am in his lap he strokes me and I find myself relaxing. But something about him reminds me of the puppy mill I came from. The woman reminds me of my mommy. My mommy says she is my grandmommy (what ever that is).
My mommy said that my new daddy and she have to go to a funeral for someone close to daddy. I don't understand any of this. All I know is that I really want them with me!

Things never really turn out the way you plan. John and I were leaving Blacksburg, VA Friday morning, going to see the Arch in St. Louis, have a nice diner in a restaurant to celebrate adding Ruza to our family, pick her up Sat. morning, shop for her at the Petco there, spend another night in St. Louis and then come home to VA.
A family emergency caused us to change our plans and we drove to St. Louis, got Ruz and then made it half way back to VA in one day. We drove the rest of the way home this morning.
What a wonderful pup she is! I am trying to imagine what is going through her mind. She came from a puppy mill and it is obvious she doesn't trust us yet; but already she has been following me around the house, always making sure she knows where I am. Right now she is napping on my lap!
Yesterday, when we first got her, she wouldn't eat or drink. This morning she drank some water and ate a little dry food. This evening she drank and ate more. She seems curious about everything around her, but very timid. She pulled a pair of my socks from my suitcase and started playing with them! Then she saw me watching and ran to her blanket.
In a few minutes we are headed to PetSmart to pick up a soft harness for her, a collar seems to bother her, and a few other things she needs. I am just soooo very happy to finally have her!

Soon Ruza will be able to put her own sweet pup thoughts here, but for now, I will have to do.
I miss my Shiloh so very much. Only 5 more days until we get Ruza, but I needed a dog fix! I was browsing through Pet Smart, planning all the treats and clothes and so on that I would eventually get for Ruza. Then I saw a lady with a tiny little white puppy. I was pretty sure it was a Bichon (like Shiloh) and when I asked her she said he was. She was so very nice and let me hold him. He licked my nose and cuddled up in my arms and fell asleep! I spoke to her for awhile and simply enjoyed the feel of a warm puppy in my arms. The lady was very patient and didn't act like she was in a hurry at all. I hope she has a wonderful evening! She certainly made mine wonderful.

Only 5 days ago our beloved Bichon/Maltese mix died in our arms. Shiloh was nearly 17 years old. That evening my husband found Ruza on Petfinder.
She has been rescued from a puppymill. We don't know her birthdate, but she is 1 year old and we are driving from Blacksburg, VA to St. Louis, MO to pick her up on Sept. 20th!
Right now our house is too quiet, and very sad. My husband and I time our trips home in the evenings to arrive together, because in the past Shiloh was there to greet us and now it breaks our hearts to come home alone and not have him here.
But we are excited and looking forward to bringing home our new baby!
