She loves playing with Chachmo, they are non-stop! She enjoys meeting new human friends. She is very outgoing! Mostly though, she loves hanging out with Mom - she's very clingy!!!!
Getting hair plucked out of her ears at the groomer
Her favorite toy is the dog dishes! After meal time she carries them around and then sits and chews on them (they're heavy duty plastic kind)
Anything - she is voracious.
Probably into the pet supply stores because she gets so much attention from other customers.
At this point, she does a beautiful "sit"! Her other best trick is getting in Mom's lap while she is sitting at the computer. She puts her front legs up, then her back legs one at a time....voila, 60-lb poodle in my lap in an office chair!
I was asked to go pick up a dog near me who was being voluntarily surrendered by her owners but otherwise they would have been charged with neglect. Apparently they left her outside tied up all the time and there was seldom anyone home. Then they evacuated for Hurricane Gustav and left her tied up outside. Neighbors were upset and contacted the authorities and they ended up agreeing to surrender her.
I knew I was in trouble when I heard the dog I was going to pick up was a Standard Poodle. It's my dream dog, my favorite breed -- I'd long been harboring a small obsession with them. Funny because I don't really care for the toy or miniature poodles, but the Standards I just adore, for both their looks and personality.
I told myself I was just going to foster her, anyway, but within a few days I was wrapped around her paw and knew she wouldn't be going anywhere.
Sally is affable, slightly goofy, abundantly affectionate, playful (still a puppy - 9 months old), happy, and completely endearing. And clingy -- OMD. While I call Chachmo my Velcro dog, Sally is more like Saran Wrap -- when I'm home, she has to be close to me at all times. Even when I take a shower, she often parts the curtain and stands on the edge of the tub getting wet because she can't stand for me to be out of sight! Yet, when I leave she mostly behaves, not showing signs of separation anxiety. It probably helps tremendously that the other dogs are here for company -- she has managed to quickly cohere into the "pack."
