Arrival Story:
I am Maggie's 4th owner; she was 11 mo when I adopted her. Maggie was at the shelter where I volunteer twice - once for three weeks before being adopted by another volunteer, and for 1 week before she was adopted for the third and final time. My parents had said we couldn't have another dog after Oreo, so I emailed one of my friends at the shelter to make sure nothing happened to my girl before I could find her a good home. I got a call that night from my friend. She said 'I hate to put you in this position Erin, but if your family doesn't adopt Maggie she will be euthanized - she's going kennel crazy and can't be adopted. She was going to be PTS today but we took her off the list for you." Needless to say, after a long discussion, Maggie ended up coming home with me.

Bio:
Maggie was only 11 mo when she came to my house. She was severely undersocialized and was afraid of almost everything. I did a lot of counter conditioning and desensitization, as well as taking her to agility and obedience classes. Over three years ago she passed her Delta Society Pet Partners evaluation!!! Maggie is also a demo dog for my clicker training presentations, agility competitor (two Jr. Handler titles right now, working on our AD), and she was started on sheep 11/13/04 and shows potential. She earned her CGC last spring, too! Maggie is my heart dog.

This'll be a quickie...Erin wants to go blading soon since it's finally nice enought outdoors. Anyway I have 16 pals now! I feel sooooo special...and very popular. I think Dogster is cool cause I'm not a big fan of meeting new dogs in person (it's a little personal space thing I have - no noses in my face; it's just rude), but online I have lots of buddies.

Erin has lots of two legged friends who come over and pay attention to me, too; I like that lots even if she feels left out sometimes. I love being big dog on campus....well really off campus, but when I'm on campus its cool and I get to chase squirrels.

So my girl says I need to write you all so you can get to know me better. We'll see how this goes.

I'm a college dog - my girl is a sophomore in college and I live with her because she says that 'asking an animal science major to leave her dog at home is like asking a violin major to leave their instrument at home'. This is my second year as a college dog...so far we've taken classes at the Greater Lafayette Kennel Club (I'm in the first level of competition agility right now), started herding (yesterday!!! it was lots of fun to chase the wooly things and I seemed to make my girl and our trainer pretty happy, too), and will be restarting therapy dog visits. For exercise I run while Erin rollerblades; I can go really fast! One of my favorite places up here is Celery Bog - they have good blading trails and hiking trails, too.

You've probably seen the 8 other dogs that are part of my family - most have gone to new homes, but we'll never forget them so Erin put them up under our family. Gryffin and Oreo live with my girl's parents, though I've heard talk of Gryff coming up here for a bit; that would be really nice, he's my best bud even if I have to put him in his place every once in a while. Oreo and I don't get along at all....I prefer having my people all to myself without having to share them with another girl dog. When I go home with Erin they keep Oreo out of my way; I like that.

Well gtg cause my girl needs the computer....I'll write more later.
