We have a new addition to our fur family. Announcing Freyja the jumbo samoyed. She arrived October 26, 2011 and life around here has certainly changed. She was born May 15, 2011 and arrived via airfreight from Ontario. My human dad named her Freyja after the Norse goddess of beauty, but according to Norse mythology and ME...Freyja was a beeotch. Her fur father is from Denmark. She always nudges me and wants to be in the thick of things. I have to share my toys now. The scary thing is she keeps on eating and growing...funny how that works. I used to savour my dinner and enjoy it now it's bottoms up!!! She is alot of fun in the park as she loves to play chase with me. It's going to take some getting used to, but I think I'm going to enjoy the company.

It has been over 1 week since Rose went to the Rainbow Bridge and we all really miss her. Rose was trully a beautiful dog. She was intelligent, and almost human like. When my pawrent talked on the phone, Rose would try to get in on the conversation. Rose moved gracefully, she pranced. We got Rose when she was 5 yrs old. Kiska our first sam had been put to sleep 2 weeks prior and my pawrent was mourning his loss and not wanting to walk in the Millcreek Ravine near our house. She really wasn't looking for another dog so soon after Kiska, but she happened to see an ad in the paper for a 'female samoyed looking for a home to the right family.' My pawrent drove over an hour to Buck Lake "just to take a look". There she was, waiting at the end of the long driveway...the samoyed goddess...So beautiful. Rose sat there while my pawrent petted her. It was definitely "love at first sight". The lady tried arguing with my pawrent that she would let Rose go for $300. but my pawrent said that she would give her $400.00. Rose never left my pawrent's side and even took a nap when she did. Rose wasn't much of a sled dog. She thought the harness was a fashion statement only. She used to step on the back of my pawrent's cross country skiis. We won't talk about Skijorring.
When Rose was 10 my pawrent adopted me. Rose welcomed me with open paws and quickly showed me the ropes so to speak. Rose thought I was a gift and looked at my pawrent with "for me? You shouldn't have!!!"
Rose we miss your howl, your uncanny instinct of just knowing when it's suppertime, and when dad is eating his evening apple and wanting to share it with you. We hope you are prancing and sniffing at the Bridge and looking forward to seeing you. Give Kiska a hug.
