needs some mud!!
It has been dry, dry, dry here in Texas, pups! What's a mud dawg gotta do to get some precipitation around here?!?!?
I tried to have all my doggie pals save up all their spit and then on the count of 3 spit into a big pile. I was *hoping* this idea would lead to a big muddy hole. But, alas, I forgot that dogs can't purse their lips, thus making it impossible to spit.
I tried drooling too. But as soon as the drool started forming, the humans gave me their food, therefore ending the drool.
For Pete's Sake!
I need some mud!!

I'm a diary pick of the day!! That's pretty sweet! I feel as if I should say something profound, maybe make a speech or something...sadly, I have nothing prepared!
I've been so busy mucking around in the mud, I really haven't sat down and put my thoughts to paper. And, more rain is predicted for this weekend, so...more mud!!
C'est la vie, pups!
Have a great weekend!

Oh dear pups! You all have made my 3rd birthday so fantastic! Thank you all so much for sending me well-wishes and love on my special day!!
In celebration of my birthday, I have decided to let my inner Mud Dawg out to play!! We have had A LOT of rain and snow lately, but the temperatures have warmed up so much that all the snow melted, thus adding to the amount of mud! We have MUD PUDDLES! Yes, PUDDLES OF MUD! I have been splishing and splashing in the mud, and no one can tell me to stop, cause it's my birthday and I can do what I want, right?!?!
Normally I am a very handsome black and white dog. But today, I am a dashing brown, black and white dog (mostly brown). I know a bath is coming, but I don't care, it's totally worth it!
Happy birthday to meeeeee!!!!

Scritches.
Love 'em.
I could stand still all day, if I am being scritched. Love, love, love 'em.
The other day, I had a snout to tush scritch from momma. Yup. She started at my snout and then scritched me all the way to my hind quarters. The best part...? The long fingernails.
You see, normally, momma likes to keep her nails short. She says it's easier to type, cleaner, blah, blah, blah. But, it makes for a less fantastic scritch.
Well, apparently, momma got lazy and didn't keep up with her nail trimming as she normally does. Lemme tell you pups, this made for one of the BEST scritch sessions EVER!!
I think all humans should have to keep their nails long enough to provide the best scritch scenario possible!!!
Let's put that on the ballot for next week, no?

For serious.
Pups, tonight I witnessed a television commercial that, well, pi$$ed me off. Burger King aired a commercial showing a jovial postman walking down the street, singing of the horrors of his daily life. One of the "horrors" was pit bulls and rottweilers. As the camera pulls away, 2 dogs (presumably a pittie and rottie) are knawing at the postman's leg. But fear not, as all of this misery can be forgotten with a meal from Burger King...
As soon as the commercial was over, a very terse e-mail was sent to BK media relations office telling them of their ignorant and hurtful ways.
This is unacceptable, pups! This kind of commercial only perpetuates the myths that pitties and rotties (and other dogs caught up in the BSL bull-sh*t) are vicious. BK must be told that they are wrong to air such a commerical.
If you stand with me, I encourage you to send an e-mail (or call!) to BK telling them how you (or your humans) feel.
My e-mail was sent to mediainquiries@whopper.com.
I realize Izzy is normally the one who doles out edicts, but I thought this one should come from me.
If you feel as strongly as I do, that BK needs to own up to the errors of this commercial, LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE WRONG.
That's all. You may return to your proper belly-rubbing position now :)

As some of you pups may know, we had torrential (to put it mildly) storms last Wednesday. Mom said she had never seen so much rain in such a short amount of time in ALL HER LIFE (and that is a loooong time)!
So, the humans knew to expect a little bit of mud. A little extra than is "normal", if you will.
HA!
The walls are streaked with it from us pups running outside to chase the skwerls, and then shake-shake-shaking it off inside. It is caked into our paws! Mom is conviced that there is a strange magnetic field that keeps the mud attracted to our fur, and then as soon as we settle onto the furniture - *zwoop* it just falls off our fur - in giant clumps.
Izzy had a bath on Saturday night. Sunday morning, Mom woke up to see Izzy's face streaked with mud. Yes, streaked. Mom grabbed the baby wipes and wiped down Izzy's face.
Mom thought it was a bit odd that there would still be so much mud left in the backyard, since it hadn't rained in 3 days. So, she investigated.
Sure enough, along the fence line (aka Skwerl Alley), the grass had completely disappeared (she blames us pups for running over the grass so much it disintigrated - whatev), and there were actual puddles of mud.
Strange.
Fun for the pups! Not so fun for Mom, as she now suspects a leak in a water pipe.
I say "leave it". Mom says, "no".
Buzz kill!

No rain.
No rain.
No rain.
Hot.
Hot.
Hot.
As with everywhere else, it has been very, very hot here! No big change really.
Due to the heat and lack of agua from the sky, I have been begging Mom to turn on the sprinklers.
Please, please, please, please! Mom is kinda cheap. Thus far she has ignored my please to turn on the sprinklers. Because it hasn't rained in a long time, the backyard is, essentially, dirt with only a few sparse sections of grass thrown in. So, once the water comes - MUD!!! Tonight, Mom has planned on turning on the sprinklers, common sense taking over. So, hopefully, by the time I wake up tomorrow morning, there will be MUD!
I'm so excited, I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight! It'll be like Christmas morning!!

Not just in a sexy-sexy way (wink, wink), but in a it's-104-degrees-today way!
The sidewalks are hot!
The dirt is hot!
Everything is hot!!
Izzy actually likes the heat. Many-a-time you will find her sunning herself on the back patio, panting away like an idiot (don't tell her I said that!). Mom says she is used to the heat, her people wandered in the desert for 40 years, afterall.
I myself, prefer to stay indoors where the AC is. There has been a lot less playing at my house, due to the heat. No one wants to expend too much energy, unless we know a Frosty Paw is waiting for us.
HOT!
NO RAIN!
UGH!!

At least, that's what the humans said.
We gots the rain! Lots and lots of rain! Last week it rained almost everyday!
It. Was. Pawesome!!
Imagine: rain, rain, rain and doggie paws, paws, paws.
So much mud!! Paw prints were everywhere! On the floors, on the couch, on the ceiling! Well, not on the ceiling - yet...
Mom was a bit put off by all the rain/mud, but not me!! I was as happy as a pig in slop, or something like that!
Bring on more rain, says I!
