Leave a bone for Guide Dog Lomax

Lomaxy, Maxy Waxy, Little Bugger, Max a million, Cutie bug, Maxis

Quick Bio:
-purebred-service dog

Food, playing with toys, playing with big doggies, food, treats, going out to work...

Being left alone when I go get his food ready, being left alone period, not getting what he wants when he wants it, being corrected, being cradled, getting his toe nails clipped, getting groomed

Favorite Toy:
His rope, the ugly monkey toy, any bones, the bottle toy from Vance...any toy within his reach, really!

Favorite Food:

Favorite Walk:
If the leash is on his collar, and if he's attached to that, Lomax is happy and willing to go anywhere with me!

Best Tricks:
He's a guide dog puppy in training, he's not technically allowed to learn any tricks.

Arrival Story:
On September 27th, 2004, Louise Henderson at Guide Dogs of America contacted me. I had asked her prior to that for a male yellow lab available some time in November. Male yellow labs are rare at GDA, so I was really crossing my fingers. But, on September 27th, she emailed me and told me I could have a male yellow lab on November 12th. Oh, the wait was long, but I had my second puppy in training, Vienna, with me still, and she kept me company during the long wait. Then, Vienna went in for formal training on November 6th, so I had no pup to wait with while I waited for my next pup. Finally, on November 12th, 2004, I picked up Lomax from Guide Dogs of America to train as a guide dog puppy. Then on September 24th, 2004, Lomax went to Jenny Haynes to finish up being raised. Finally, on February 4, 2007 Lomax graduated as a guide dog with a wonderful lady named Barbara who lives in Arizona. They are the perfect match and Lomax is thrilled with his new mommy!

Lomax was my third puppy to raise for GDA. He comes from a litter of nine (three boys, six girls -- 1myl, 2mbl, 3fyl,3fbl) and because of that loves to play with all doggies! He loves his littermates whenever he see's them at Puppy Meetings!

Hi guys,
this is going to be my last update. Today was a pretty normal day at first. I woke Mommy up and she got up and did all her Mommy duties (feeding me, of course!). Then she did something weird by getting all my toys and bed together and stuff like that. I was happy though, I thought maybe we were going on vacation! Then, her and I got in the car and off we drove. We arrived at GDA, and boy was I happy!!!! We had a really fun obedience class and at one point silly Mommy put on a blindfold and asked me to go potty! The only problem was, just a minute or so before that I already went potty! But, I went again, just for her. She was very happy! Then I had to do obedience with her in a blindfold. It was fun and Mommy kept thinking she would fall over, but she never did.

After the class I met a new lady named Jenny. Mommy and I walked across the street and got into the car, so I thought all was well. Then Mommy parked the car again and I saw Miss Jenny again! Miss Suzanne then came and kept kissing me and saying goodbye, then she hugged Mommy and told her to keep in touch. What was going on??? Then Mommy bent down and hugged me and kissed me and then gave Miss Jenny my leash.

It was later explained to me that I'm now being raised for Miss Jenny!! This is really exciting. I'm not sure why I'm not with Mommy anymore, but I REALLY like it here already!! Mommy (Jenny) is very nice to me and really likes me!! This should be fun...

Hi guys,
Mommy's school has started up again. We've been going for a week and a half and it's just as wonderful -- and boring -- as I remember it being. Actually, I remember it being a lot more eventful and at times stressful. Mommy says thats because I was a little baby when I went to her school last year, and now I'm a big boy that can handle anything! Why thank you, Mommy!

I still go to Miss Christina for two classes during the week when Mommy has PE. I get to go to Calculus!! It's very exciting, and I see all my Senior friends. I love Mommy's Junior friends, too, of course!

Nothing exciting has been going on at all lately, besides school of course. Mommy has been acting a little strange towards me lately, though, and let me up on her bed this morning!! Sometimes she'll hug me and start crying and then keeps saying "I'm so sorry, Lomax!" I don't know what's wrong with her... that crazy lady!!

Wags and Licks,

Well well well

Hi guys,
it's the puppy that never writes!! I've just been having too wonderful of a summer to spend on the computer! Anyway, Mommy did go to Arizona as I earlier mentioned, but of course I didn't come along. She said it was a good thing though, because two of her friends got food poisoning and were a day late in coming home, and it was soo hot (she says in the 110's or so!) I would have been miserable! I'm not so sure, but oh well. Instead I got to stay at Camp GDA. It was might hot there, but it was fun. I had my evaluation, and according to Miss Laura -- who evaluated me -- I did very, very well! She said she had no complaints, I was perfect, and am a very sweet boy. Duh!!

At the end of July, Mommy and I went up to Monteray (about 6 hours away) and spent a week with Uncle Jimmy, her brother. It was a lot of fun, and about 15 degrees cooler there, which Mommy loved. They had no dogs, however, so I had SO much energy by the time I got home!! I played and played and played with Fala!!

In the beginning of August, Mommy took me back out to Camp GDA for 11 days!! She was at Lake San Antonio and then Grass Valley, and no puppies allowed! I came back yesterday. She said I have grown up, gotten bigger, and have calmed down in some ways. She thinks I'm growing up?! Haha!!!

Today was school registration for Mommy. She was really happy to go back, and so was I! I got to see all my friends!! They were all happy to see me and Mommy got SO many questions like "is this Lomax?" and "He's HUGE!" I guess I have grown quite a bit! I think my favorite person was seeing Jordan Thornburg. He's Mommy's friend and in all of my (I mean her) classes. I got all wiggly when I saw him. And Mommy says my bad water bottle fetish is coming back. Whenever I saw a water bottle I'd lunge for it. Wait... why is that such a bad thing??

Mommy says school starts up in 6 days and she is so excited! So am I! That means no more boring days! Oh, I met her new PE teacher and she LOVES me! She said she wanted me to stay at her house. Ok, I liked her! She's nice!

Wags and Licks,

PS. I'll try to get a new picture up there, I've grown quite a bit!
