My very last entry

Hi,
Dawg here. I suddenly became blind and Barbie took me to the vet. The news wasn't good. I had lymph nodes all over my body that were really enlarged. My eyes were full of blood so no one knew what was going on. I was given drops for my eyes and was told to return Monday (today) for a lymphectomy to check for cancer.

Well on Sunday, I wouldn't eat. Barbie got me a BK quad stacker and I didn't want the bacon, cheese or the burger. I also started panting a lot. Barbie took me to the emergency vet where I had more blood work and an x-ray. My spleen was really enlarged, I was anemic and had a clotting problem. I was bleeding somewhere.

Barbie made the decision to send me to the Rainbow Bridge and she told me to come and get her when it was her turn to cross. I was also told that there would be some people and dogs who were there already to show me around. Barbie held me to the last and I left. I know I am not in any pain now.

Barbie is really devastated. She was so sorry that I had to go but, she didn't want me suffering anymore and for that I am grateful. I will miss my siblings in the house and you Barbie most of all. Just you all remember, now I finally have all the squeaks I can destroy, have a lot of room to run and best of all, all the food I can eat. I promise I will come and get you when it's your turn Barbie. I know you love me and I love you too. Death can never seperate us , what we had, and we will be together again someday.

Lots of love to you all

Surgery at the Vet

Well, today I had surgery to remove a cyst on my tail. The staff were really good to me and even told Barbie that I would be groggy. Too bad they don't know me like that. I was my ever-lovin hyper self. I went home and finally got to eat something. Not eating or drinking last night was the hardest part of this whole thing. My tail is a little sore but, I have a remedy for that. I go outside and lay in the snow and let it kind of freeze the area so that it doesn't bother me at all. Dad was at the vet to take me home and he said I have a tail like a rat! I know it's shaved but ... Well, I guess it does look like a rat's tail because of the shaving. It's a lot closer than when I go see Wendy for grooming.

I got a lot of treats when I got home. Like fried baloney and a couple bits of bacon. I get this because I was so good at the vet today. Yippee! I could go all the time if this is the kind of stuff that happens after. So far so good. I will be getting an update as soon as I know what test results are from the vet. Until then, maybe I can look so cute, I can get a bite of Barbie's sammich!

Happy New Year!

Another Christmas and another New Year! Excellent!

I have a new job and am getting so much praise for it! I have become a teacher. Yessirree! I am told that I am a great teacher for Biggles. The only thing I can't resist doing is getting Barbie to play with ME instead of him. I know he needs practice but, gosh darn, that is my thing!

Lately, he is learning how to patrol the yard. He is a creampuff but, at least he is barking at passing people. He likes to run and hide so he doesn't look as serious as I'd like. He will learn eventually. By the time I get through with him it won't be other cats that won't venture into the yard but, everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been to the vet and had a cyst on my tail examined which should be removed in a couple of weeks. I'm starting to get one on my neck too. I remember my sister Abby having them too so I don't think it's a big deal. She was a purebred standard poodle and walked like a deer. We knew each other for a long while before she went to pave the way for us at the Rainbow Bridge. I miss her and how she would have responded to Biggles. I know she would have been an even better teacher than me! The only other thing the vet could see was the start of cataracts. I guess something will be done about that in a couple of years. I don't think I could go on living if I couldn't see the food to catch it. Rely on my nose? I never ever said I was a good tracker! I don't intend to start learning now!

Any way, I teach Biggles when and how to enter the car. A couple of times the back door froze and we had to get in the car through the front door. I went first and showed Biggles how. I also keep him in the boundary of our yard even in the part without a fence. He is a quick learner and easy to please. Since I am alpha to him, he always defers to me even on the subject of toys. He has gotten so big but, not so big that I still can't handle him! I am still smarter and faster than him. It hasn't become such an issue with me that he has turned into a big galute. He's still not bad for intelligence for a 7 month old puppy. He has become a real pal to me. He plays with me in ways Barbie can't. All in all, I am looking forward to celebrating and living in this New Year.

The Big Trip ... ho hum

Well there certainly is a buzz on our diary entries about the Big trip to the states. Seen it, done it, what's the deal? Of course it might have been a deal for Biggles and Vincent, seeing as it was their first time. I have to admit, having Vinnie there was a treat. Of course we got Mighty Dog and what look like Gainesburgers to eat. Yum!

I have to brag about being the alpha dog! Yup. When we got back we had to wait a couple of days for the big walk at Little Mountain Park. It was Tom, Barbie, Jazz, Biggles and I who went. We started off on the walk and Barbie couldn't continue due to health reasons. She went back to the car and when I discovered that she was gone ... well, I went to look for her. I found her in the car so I let her know I was around. She let me in which was good because boy, was it cold!

She tried to phone Tom on his cellphone to let him know I was OK but, he ended up coming back on his own. He said that when I left, both Jazz and Biggles were unmanageable. This tells me that since I am the oldest and (mwahahaha!) wisest, that I am alpha in the pack next to my human. Nicccce! I even beat Tom and he is a human!

I shall have to let you all know about further trips and important things in the lives of us pets.

Biggles is A'ight!

Hi everyone!

So anyone seeing my family on my dogster page, can see I have acquired a new brother. Well, at first I have to admit I was jealous. Barbie watched him like a hawk and he got a lot of attention. I did too, but I just didn't like it when HE got it. He takes my toys and plays with them like he owns them. He also keeps getting these really cute little chews. I want those too so I just take it when he is distracted like, every 30 seconds! My adult rawhides are not that interesting anymore.

He also lets me jump on him! Well, sort of, he tries to bite me when I get on top of him and then he lays down or moves his backside really fast. We start roughhousing here in the house and Barbie sends us outside in the yard where we have a lot more room. He's a lot of fun except that he sleeps quite a bit and I can tire him out quite easily. Barbie says he is a lot more calm of a puppy than I was or even am now.

He also has a better sense of smell for tracking than I do. He is finding the food! I'll have to watch him more carefully because he goes around the house sniffing and tracking. It had better NOT be my food!

He also doesn't try to herd anybody! I try to show him but, he has absolutely no talent for that particular skill. He doesn't protect the yard either whenever anyone walks by. He hides under Barbie's legs or the lilac bushes. He also hides there whenever he gets tired from the playing or investigating Vincent with whom he gets along with now.

Well, he is fun and I think we will be friends; as long as he is smaller than me, I should be able to bully him around. He won't grow big will he? Nawwww!

Gotta run and babysit the bro

My Upcoming Birthday

Well my birthday is fast approaching where I will be ten years old! Doesn't seem like that long at all. I have been busy going to the park because Barbie, my owner, wants to lose weight. Besides, I love the new toy frisbee that she is trying out with me. I would love some pictures but, she can't throw and take them at the same time especially with this weird triangular shaped frisbee that goes everywhere!

I also have news that I am getting a brother. He is a golden retriever puppy who will be coming here to stay the day after my birthday. His name is Biggles and he has already been picked out. We get him on July 27th!

I'm not sure that I want to share everything with him, but we will see what happens. He will probably also get his own webpage and everything. I'll try to let you all know how I feel about this when he arrives.

Tragedy Strikes!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Dawg reporting in although I must say that it has been a trying time lately. Barbie getting phone calls at all hours (and she anwers them out of sleep) regarding Mom. She is ill in a place called Ottawa and that is long distance though I am not sure of what that means.

People gone. What does that mean? Barbie very upset. I try to glom onto her and touch her while sleeping but, is that enough? I notice that the rest of the cats console her to the best of their ability. They come and give extra lovins just so she knows they notice and care.

When she cries she says "Mom gone". That makes us take notice! How could that happen? So sudden? Barbie says that things can change in one heartbeat. She says to remind our loved ones how much we care. It is never too late. She tells her loved ones every day how much she loves us and she says stuff like that too on the phone.

She was puppy sitting Jazz while Jackie had her knee done and all this was going on. I was OK with Jazz although Hermione had her beefs. We were fooling around and I had a toy which had a squeak in it. It was a stuffed bone that was a little too small for tug.

I brought it to Barbie to throw for me and Jazz wanted to tug with it. Well, that wasn't in the plan but, I ended up getting the toy with a slight war wound. This entailed a trip to the emergency room with a cleaning, antibiotics and a nice large bill for Barbie who was freaked out that my eye was involved which it wasn't. Please see pic of me after cleaning. Note why Barbie was so freaked.

Tom, good guy that he is, paid for the entire bill. I guess I am that loveable!!
I know I am. 5 minutes and you're mine!!! Give me food and that's it!!! Thank goodnes for people who will love us no matter what. I feel fortunate.

Regards
Dawg

My vet visit

Today I got to go on a car ride with Zuzu to the vet. I waited until we were in the room until I had to let Barbie know that I needed outside. She took me and I wanted to explore the area a bit more but, she wanted to go back to Zuzu wh0 was hiding in her kennel.

I was a little leary with the doctor but, she was pretty friendly sitting on my level and making friends. I even licked her face when Barbie asked me to give her kisses.I got to jump onto a chair and then the table. I think I got a needle but I was too busy licking Barb to notice. I kind of got felt and had some cold thing put on me. The end result is that I am healthy. Barbie was pleased. She rests easy about a month or two after the visit and then she starts to watch me doing my business and watching.

All in all it was a very pleasant visit. I did nto nip or misbehave at all. I did have to get something called bordetella since I go to an animal hospital to get groomed.I did not like that stuff up my nose I tell you what!

At least I can cross the border and still get groomed with no side effects. Folks please make sure us pets get the vaccinations that we need no matter where we go.
Thank goodness for my owner and responsible doctors I am now free to go where I want.

Ciao

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let all my pup pals know that my owner has given everyone 5 bones for the season. I personally want all my pals to know that I appreciate each and every one of you. If only I could meet you and play with you all. Thank you all my buds and the best of Season's Greetings.

Jazz, Get Away From My Stuff!

Hi,

Had Jazz over here for about 5 days. Man, is it ever hard to make sure that she doesn't get all my really good toys. My owner just sewed a bunch of them and washed them for my personal use. Then Jazz comes over and unstuffs them when that is MY job!

She chews my toys and rawhide bones, eats my food and tries to get lovin's from my owner. I am extremely jealous and possessive. If she happens to get hold of one of my toys and that toy looks more interesting, I will try to take it away. The tug-of-war is on! Jazz, quit trying to use your weight to dismay me! I will shake that toy and pull until it rips. We destroyed quite a few of them this way.

Poor Barbie, she looked real sad when we ripped open about 6 toys. She had to put them back in the mending pile. She was not impressed to have to pick up double the amount of fluff from the toys since there are two of us working to demolish them.

She even tried to train Jazz. Boy is Jazz ever dumb. She doesn't know how to lie down, not even for a treat. Much to my annoyance, she learned how to fetch and play catch by catching the toy in her mouth. No fair, this takes playtime away from me. I even tried showing Jazz the commands but, she wasn't even close. Barbie said that it was a good retraining for me and that we must be patient with Jazz. She even told me that at one time, I didn't know these things either ... when? I can't even remember when I didn't know my commands. I think I was born trained and that Barbie is wrong.

Basically, the whole time I was trying to prevent Jazz from getting at my stuff and keeping her away from my owner. It was hard work! Boy did I ever sleep well when she left.

It is one thing for Jazz to share her toys with me at her place but, another when it's MY favorite toys that she wants at my home. I just basically told Jazz, Keep away from my stuff, but, it really didn't work. Luckily, I have a LOT of energy and will continue to teach her as well.

Jealously Yours
