Quick Bio:

Birthday:
July 26th 1997

Likes:
Eating food, anything I can put in my stomach, anything that my owners are eating (or leave on the coffee table). Once, when my owner wasn't looking, I ate an entire Mushroom, Green Pepper and Onion Pizza. But I spit out the onions, I don't like those.

Pet-Peeves:
When my owners play 'give it back'. They don't do it so much anymore. Thunderstorms give me the heebie-jeebies. Fireworks make me barf with fear! I also hate the words butt rub!

Favorite Toy:
Anything with a squeak in it. Squeaks are fundamentally evil and must be systematically destroyed.

Favorite Food:
Wow; that is a hard one. I'll eat anything, but really, I think I'm partial to Chinese food, pizza, perogies, hamburgers, lasagna. Oh yeah, I LOVE ice cream on a hot day!

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere at all. I love to go for walks. There's always something new to sniff, or some other dog that must be made aware of my presence. I can't understand why my owner will not let me eat food I find on the ground; after all, I found it!

Best Tricks:
She knows your basic commands and knows how to use hand signals for those basic command Can catch a frisbee or ball in midair. She knows too many tricks to be listed and she is learning every day!

Arrival Story:
Barbie, (my owner) visited a house in Transcona by nature of her job. The couple she visited had a pregnant purebred sheltie. She didn't know then, but my mum had mated with a poodle. If anyone has any information regarding my mom or my sibs, let Barbie know. Pics would be great! We could get together for a playdate! She picked me up when I was six weeks old out of a litter of seven, maybe eight. I was more active than the other female left, and probably still am. People often think I am only a year or two old and I haven't changed a bit since being a pup...except that I do some tricks!

Bio:
Dawg's entire personality is such that she is motivated by food. It is the reason for her existence, or so it seems. Thus, she is *extremely* trainable, as long as food is involved. Thanks to food, she knows how to discipline herself (timeout means go to your kennel, dance means doing a breakdance....honest!, leash means bring me your leash we are going for a walk and so on). Once, when we were unloading groceries and putting the bags inside the door we noticed she had disappeared into the living room. Well, she ended up eating 17 hot dogs inside of 5 minutes. Her metabolism is staggering. A very nice dog indeed. She is a Leo on the cusp of Gemini. Shows the Gemini qualities in either sleeping, eating or playing (hyperactive!!!!!) all or nothing. Shows the Leo qualities in being the center of attention. If I pay attention to any pet other than Zuzu (her royal highness), Dawg shows up jealous. Needs to play constantly! May become tiring quickly especially when she plays fetch up and down the stairs for forty plus times (lost count). Sometimes plays for as much as 30 minutes in one go. All I can say is that she is eager to play and I will do so as long as she wants to!

My very last entry

Hi,
Dawg here. I suddenly became blind and Barbie took me to the vet. The news wasn't good. I had lymph nodes all over my body that were really enlarged. My eyes were full of blood so no one knew what was going on. I was given drops for my eyes and was told to return Monday (today) for a lymphectomy to check for cancer.

Well on Sunday, I wouldn't eat. Barbie got me a BK quad stacker and I didn't want the bacon, cheese or the burger. I also started panting a lot. Barbie took me to the emergency vet where I had more blood work and an x-ray. My spleen was really enlarged, I was anemic and had a clotting problem. I was bleeding somewhere.

Barbie made the decision to send me to the Rainbow Bridge and she told me to come and get her when it was her turn to cross. I was also told that there would be some people and dogs who were there already to show me around. Barbie held me to the last and I left. I know I am not in any pain now.

Barbie is really devastated. She was so sorry that I had to go but, she didn't want me suffering anymore and for that I am grateful. I will miss my siblings in the house and you Barbie most of all. Just you all remember, now I finally have all the squeaks I can destroy, have a lot of room to run and best of all, all the food I can eat. I promise I will come and get you when it's your turn Barbie. I know you love me and I love you too. Death can never seperate us , what we had, and we will be together again someday.

Lots of love to you all
Dawg

Surgery at the Vet

Well, today I had surgery to remove a cyst on my tail. The staff were really good to me and even told Barbie that I would be groggy. Too bad they don't know me like that. I was my ever-lovin hyper self. I went home and finally got to eat something. Not eating or drinking last night was the hardest part of this whole thing. My tail is a little sore but, I have a remedy for that. I go outside and lay in the snow and let it kind of freeze the area so that it doesn't bother me at all. Dad was at the vet to take me home and he said I have a tail like a rat! I know it's shaved but ... Well, I guess it does look like a rat's tail because of the shaving. It's a lot closer than when I go see Wendy for grooming.

I got a lot of treats when I got home. Like fried baloney and a couple bits of bacon. I get this because I was so good at the vet today. Yippee! I could go all the time if this is the kind of stuff that happens after. So far so good. I will be getting an update as soon as I know what test results are from the vet. Until then, maybe I can look so cute, I can get a bite of Barbie's sammich!

Happy New Year!

Another Christmas and another New Year! Excellent!

I have a new job and am getting so much praise for it! I have become a teacher. Yessirree! I am told that I am a great teacher for Biggles. The only thing I can't resist doing is getting Barbie to play with ME instead of him. I know he needs practice but, gosh darn, that is my thing!

Lately, he is learning how to patrol the yard. He is a creampuff but, at least he is barking at passing people. He likes to run and hide so he doesn't look as serious as I'd like. He will learn eventually. By the time I get through with him it won't be other cats that won't venture into the yard but, everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been to the vet and had a cyst on my tail examined which should be removed in a couple of weeks. I'm starting to get one on my neck too. I remember my sister Abby having them too so I don't think it's a big deal. She was a purebred standard poodle and walked like a deer. We knew each other for a long while before she went to pave the way for us at the Rainbow Bridge. I miss her and how she would have responded to Biggles. I know she would have been an even better teacher than me! The only other thing the vet could see was the start of cataracts. I guess something will be done about that in a couple of years. I don't think I could go on living if I couldn't see the food to catch it. Rely on my nose? I never ever said I was a good tracker! I don't intend to start learning now!

Any way, I teach Biggles when and how to enter the car. A couple of times the back door froze and we had to get in the car through the front door. I went first and showed Biggles how. I also keep him in the boundary of our yard even in the part without a fence. He is a quick learner and easy to please. Since I am alpha to him, he always defers to me even on the subject of toys. He has gotten so big but, not so big that I still can't handle him! I am still smarter and faster than him. It hasn't become such an issue with me that he has turned into a big galute. He's still not bad for intelligence for a 7 month old puppy. He has become a real pal to me. He plays with me in ways Barbie can't. All in all, I am looking forward to celebrating and living in this New Year.
