   Leave a bone for Emma

Schmemma, Emma-butt, Baby Stink Breath, and the latest nickname, from 7-yr old Jason, "Sugar Booger"

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

wrestling at the dog park, stalking squirrels, finding treats on the floor at petco, sleeping on the people bed, joining people hugs.

Dogs who walk by the dog park and don't play, rain, the cute dog in the mirror who won't come out to play, people carrying bags or with suitcases on wheels.

Favorite Toy:
peanut butter filled kong, treat-dispensing ball, and the squeaky moose from Kyle- she likes to carry it around and it's the only stuffed animal she hasn't torn apart.

Favorite Food:
EVERYTHING- we have yet to find a food she won't eat. She really loves apples, and steals almonds from the pantry if it is left open. She also has a thing for anything minty- she's been known to steal tic-tacs and mentos from unattended purses.

Favorite Walk:
Inside Petco, Rutgers Gardens (hee hee- sometimes even off-leash!), College Avenue Campus at Rutgers

Best Tricks:
"Come cuddle," hurling herself to the floor when someone says "down", wagging her tail 'round and 'round in a propeller motion, doing somersaults at the dog park to get her pals to wrestle, escaping from her crate!

Arrival Story:
After years of wanting a dog, we finally moved into an apartment that allowed dogs. We applied to adopt a dog that was listed as a 2 year old Jack Russell / Chihuahua mix on petfinder.com. We thought this would be the ideal dog because she would fit into the 10lb weight limit set by the apartment complex, and she would be past all of the behavioral problems associated with puppies. When we brought her to the vet, he told us that she was only about six or seven months, not two years! He also thought she was probably a Jack Russell / Boxer mix, not a Jack Russell / Chihuahua mix. Fortunately, Emma turned out to be a perfect match. She loves everyone and everything, and is eager to please. Her tail never stops wagging.

Emma is 100% Miss Personality. She loves any and all attention she can get...even if you just look at her, she will start wagging her tail. She plays hard, gives lots of kisses, and really loves to live the good life.

Boy, I had quite the weekend away! I ate lots of turkey and other good floor food. Good thing my Mommy's family is so clumsy! Anyhow, I spent the whole weekend playing with my Uncle Baron and my new Auntie Lucy. She's just a baby, and she looks like lots of my friends all mixed together in one dog. She could be part Golden Retriever, Dachsund, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Beagle, who knows! But she jumped all over my belly and it tickled, and she nibbled on my ears, and we played lots. It was fun to pretend I was a little kid again. Anyhow, my time with Uncle Baron was fun too. My human Uncle Joe wrestled with both of us, and my grandparents are always impressed at how well-behaved I am (if they only knew... haha!).

Anyhow, it was totally exhausting! I think I was the only one in the car happy to see the "New Jersey Welcomes You" sign...I just wiggled my bum and wagged my tail in anticipation of the smelly air and loud college kids. And I finally got to completely relax. I slept and slept and slept.

The hardest part about coming home, though, is that my grandparents have a big fenced yard and I don't ever need to be on a leash. My mommy brought me for a walk this morning and boy, was it a pain in the bum to have that thing pulling on my neck the whole way. I mean, my goodness, if I want to stop and sniff something, I should be able to do that. I know I played with a puppy this weekend, but I AM a big girl and can make my own choices about what I sniff and where! Sheesh!

Seriously, though, it's good to be back!

The funnest new game EVER.

Well, it's been about a month and a half since Pinky got adopted and I have settled back into my solo-pup routine pretty well. I miss having company but I get my people ALL TO MYSELF again, which is great.

I have finally figured out the best game in the whole world. Most dogs probably know it... I've seen some other pals playing it at the park before, but I only figured it out a little while ago. See, it's called "fetch." It's when your person throws something for you and you have to run as fast as you can to get it, and then you bring it back and they throw it again!!! It is so much fun and it makes me so pooped that I just sleep all day after we go play. Of course I played games like "fetch" before but I never really understood the "bring-it-back-and-chase-it-again" part. I still like those puppy games, like wrestling and tag, but this fetching thing feels so sophistocated! I get so proud of myself when I know I did a good job.

I still have to figure out how to be graceful about getting the ball or the squeaky or whatever, though. I usually overrun it, trip, and fall on my butt when I try to stop...Then I get grass and mud stains and I have to get a bath (grumble)...I'm working on it, though. Before you know it I'll be catching things in the air and on the bounce! Woah, that would be so cool.

more time for mischief!

Well, my people sent Pinky (also known as Keita, but we all call her Pinky because I am the Brain...) off to stay on a trial run with a new family. I kind of miss her....but it sure is fun to have all the attention to myself again. Since I don't have Pinky to play with all the time anymore, I have energy left for my favorite thing in the world: MISCHIEF!

Yesterday, I decided to try out some cosmetic products. I was sort of confused by the avocado body butter... do you eat it or put it on your paws to make them smooth? Well, I did both. It was kind of hard to chew through the plastic container, but smelling good was worth it!

Today was great. My mommy forgot to close the closet where they keep my treats. Oh, boy. What a treasure trove! I had two puppy energy bars, a bunch of Hip Chips, and about a quarter of a bag of plain old biscuits. I didn't even have room for dinner, and I always have room for everything!

What will I find to do tomorrow?!
