Arrival Story:
After we lost our first Aussie, Nikkita, of 14 years, we did not think we would want another. Not because we didn't like Aussies, but because Nikkita was such a wonderful dog, we did not think any dog could come close to helping fill the void that we felt after losing Nikkita. All that changed when my husband found Chloe' on the internet. It was late November of 2006 when I found out that I had to have surgery that would put me out of commission for about 6 weeks. My husband thought that I needed someone to keep me company while he was at work so he started to search the internet, just looking at various Aussies. One night he called me into the home office and told me to look at something. When I looked at the computer screen and saw that adorable little face staring back at me, I knew she was meant to be with us. We immediately emailed the lady who had the puppy to let her know we were interested. After a few phone calls, it was done. The pup would be ours and we would pick her up in a week. The only thing was, she was in South Carolina and we live in PA! The owner did agree to meet us in upper NC so that did help. A week later we made the trek to NC and picked up our little "bundle of joy". She was very shy at first and cowered back in her crate for the few couple hours of the ride. However, by the time we returned home, Chloe' was comfortable with me and my husband and snuggled close as we sat on the sofa that first night. That is how our precious Chloe' came into our lives.

Bio:
Chloe' was born September 16, 2006 (two days after my husband's birthday) in South Carolina. She has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Her mother is a blue merle and her father a black tri. Chloe' began training in herding and agility at the age of 18 months. She loves all animals, especially the barn cats that she likes to chase everywhere! She especially loves playing with her friend Fin, a Border Collie, at the barn. She enjoys going on trail rides with me and my quarter horse Tequilla. She will bring Tequilla in from the pasture when it's time to ride. She is quick to pick up on all commands. She LOVES to swim!! Her first summer with us, she was hesitant to get into the pool, but once she did, we couldn't keep her out. Now she swims and dives all summer long.

All kinds of things happening

First let me start by telling everyone that mom has a new surgery date... it's this Friday 1/27. So please put your paws together and say a prayer for mom that everything goes well.

Now, onto what I've been up to. Not too much the past week. Weather has been iffy so we played frisbee, chase and hide and seek. No walks cause of mom's knee:( We did get to go to the barn which was nice. But the fun started on Saturday.

We got snow Saturday and we got to play in it. That was soooo much fun!!! Mom played tag with us and threw snowballs at us. I love when she does that because I try to catch them and then they explode in my mouth:D I also like to bury in the snow and throw it all up on myself. Mom says I'm a silly girl:) Needless to say, I was beat when we came in from playing and pretty much chilled the rest of the night.

Sunday was another fun day. After church, mom, grandma, Echo and I went to go swimming! I was so excited when we walked to the back of the building cause I knew we were headed to the pool. It's been a while since we went swimming and I didn't even wait til mom threw our toys before I jumped in. The water was nice and I had a blast! I still outjump sissy by a mile cause she's a sissy dog and goes to the end of the dock and stops then plops in. She looks like a frog too the way she spreads out her back legs...BOL:D We swam for about an hour and I'm glad that's all the longer cause I was really tired and slept while mom watched the Patriots game. Which, by the way they won and are going to the Super Bowl!!!!

Now, to the not so good stuff that happened. Last night when it was time for bed, I was laying at the top of the steps. Dad came up and went to step over me. Just as he stepped, I moved and I took out his legs. He went down hard and I heard a crack. And I also heard dad yell louder than ever. I was really scared cause I thought I hurt him and I ran downstairs. When mom came back in and saw dad, she was upset too. Not so much at me, but that dad was hurt. After a little while, dad did get up and he couldn't walk, but his knee was swollen. He was concerned that he damaged his knee which he had replaced two years ago. He was REALLY mad at me and I was sure to give him a VERY wide berth and stay out of his way. Mom defended me, but I need to stay out of the way when people are walking. This is not the first time I made someone fall or almost fall. I will try to do better and even though dad hasn't said a word to me since, I'm hoping that he'll soon forgive me cause I don't like when mom or dad are mad at me:(

I'm not sure if I'll get to do much this week cause of mom getting ready for surgery, but if I do, I'll be sure to fill everyone in and let you know. If not, I'll post and give you an update on mom once she's home from the hospital and settled.

Thanks in advance for the well wishes, again:) Have a good week and bark at you later.

No surgery...

Thanks for everyone's well wishes for mom's surgery. I'm going to put them all away and hold them for her since she didn't get her surgery Wednesday.

Poor mom, she was all geared up for her surgery, just to have it canceled the night before. Appartently, the doctor didn't submit it to the insurance company in time and they didn't approve it. Now mom has been fighting with them non-stop. We're hoping it will happen within the next two weeks. Mom was really upset, probably more upset that I've seen her since grandpa passed away. Wednesday was a very bad day in our house.

Not much has happened since then either. It's been really cold so we do go out and play frisbee a little, but that's about it. Mom's knee hurts so bad that she can't even walk us around the block right now. We do play hide and seek and that's fun:)

I'll keep you posted if anything exciting happens and when mom gets her surgery rescheduled.

Visit to Manor Care

I had a really nice visit at Manor Care last week. A lot of my friends were in the activity room getting ready to sing so I got to meet with a bunch of them as a group. Then we went from room to room like normal. Everyon said they had a nice Christmas. Mom let them know that we wouldn't be there for a few weeks while mom recovered from her surgery. I'm going to miss my friends:(

Sunday I got to go to the barn and it was fun! Mom played frisbee with us and we played hide and seek too!! Of course, since mom will be laid up for a while, when we got home we had to get baths. I didn't mind though cause I haven't had one in a little while. It felt good to be clean again:)

Mom and dad got new recliners and got rid of the sofa. They kept my ottoman though. But let me tell you, I am NOT happy that I can't sit on the chairs. Mom and dad put these big pillows on them and I got told several times to STAY OFF! I actually listened this time cause mom and dad mean business on this one. I also don't like the fact that I can't lay on the sofa with mom anymore:( They did keep the loveseat though and mom still cuddles with me on there, just not as much room.

Tomorrow mom goes for her surgery and I'm gonna miss her cause she'll be gone for a few days. Please put your paws together and say a prayer for mom that everything turns out okay. I'll post when I can to let you know how mom's doing.

Until then, have a great week!
