Arrival Story: After we lost our first Aussie, Nikkita, of 14 years, we did not think we would want another. Not because we didn't like Aussies, but because Nikkita was such a wonderful dog, we did not think any dog could come close to helping fill the void that we felt after losing Nikkita. All that changed when my husband found Chloe' on the internet.
It was late November of 2006 when I found out that I had to have surgery that would put me out of commission for about 6 weeks. My husband thought that I needed someone to keep me company while he was at work so he started to search the internet, just looking at various Aussies. One night he called me into the home office and told me to look at something. When I looked at the computer screen and saw that adorable little face staring back at me, I knew she was meant to be with us. We immediately emailed the lady who had the puppy to let her know we were interested. After a few phone calls, it was done. The pup would be ours and we would pick her up in a week. The only thing was, she was in South Carolina and we live in PA! The owner did agree to meet us in upper NC so that did help.
A week later we made the trek to NC and picked up our little "bundle of joy". She was very shy at first and cowered back in her crate for the few couple hours of the ride. However, by the time we returned home, Chloe' was comfortable with me and my husband and snuggled close as we sat on the sofa that first night. That is how our precious Chloe' came into our lives.
Bio: Chloe' was born September 16, 2006 (two days after my husband's birthday) in South Carolina.
She has 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Her mother is a blue merle and her father a black tri.
Chloe' began training in herding and agility at the age of 18 months.
She loves all animals, especially the barn cats that she likes to chase everywhere! She especially loves playing with her friend Fin, a Border Collie, at the barn. She enjoys going on trail rides with me and my quarter horse Tequilla. She will bring Tequilla in from the pasture when it's time to ride. She is quick to pick up on all commands. She LOVES to swim!! Her first summer with us, she was hesitant to get into the pool, but once she did, we couldn't keep her out. Now she swims and dives all summer long.
Well so far our daddy didn't get any deer. He saw a bunch of doe and hopefully they will be around next week when he can hunt them, but as of now, now deer meat for us:(
This week so far we went to Country Meadows for a visit and it was a nice one. We were in the main area for a while because a few people sat down and talked with us. Of course Echo had to show off and play the piano and do a bunch of tricks and she gets lots of treats for doing it. But the joke is on her cause I don't have to do anything and I get treats too!
Other than visiting Country Meadows, we haven't done much. Mom throws frisbee for us after work, but it gets dark soon after she gets home so then we're back in the house. I really don't mind much though cause my hip has been bothering me and when I play I go all out, but then I pay for it later in the night. Speaking of night, I've been sleeping on dad's side of the bed while he's at deer camp and I'm loving it! It sure is a lot better than sleeping on the floor that's for sure.
Well, that's about all I have for now. I hope any of my pals affected by this wild weather are nice and cozy in their homes, but still get to go out and play too!
Saturday as promised, we went for a kubota ride. We didn't stay in the woods long cause of hunting season, but it was fun to go for a ride and mom let us walk back down and that was fun too cause I like sniffing everything on the way:) We did play frisbee for a little and then we went antiquing again with mom and dad. I don't mind even if I have to wait in the car for a little cause it's nice to go for rides:) The rest of the evening we just relaxed and kept nice and warm in the cabin.
Sunday we saw 4 doe and a buck right out in the field where we play. It was really cool and mom said she is always so proud of us dogs for watching the deer and never running after them. Us animals had to head back home in the afternoon since mom had to work Monday, but dad stayed and I wish I could have stayed with him, but his buddies were coming to hunt and they'd be in the woods all day anyway so I guess going home with mom was better.
When we got home mom unpacked then we went to the barn with her. It was cold, but I didn't mind and Echo and I had fun running around chasing each other. We did help mom bring the horses in and got them fed and settled in for the night. When we got home we all cuddled up in bed and watched TV. since dad isn't home right now I get his spot on the bed and I love it! Don't get me wrong I miss my dad and I love when he's home with us, but when he's not, I do take advantage of grabbing his spot in bed:)
Tomorrow night we're going to Country Meadows and we haven't been there since Halloween so I know everyone will be happy to see us. Thursday Poppy Waple has his heart surgery so please say a prayer for him that everything goes well.
That's about all I have for now. I'll be sure to let you know if anything new or exciting happens. Good luck to all the hunters out there!
Wow! Everyone must have been on the site yesterday giving the free gifts and it crashed! At least that's what mom thinks cuz when she signed in she couldn't give gifts or post, so sorry for not sending any gifts for Thanksgiving to all my generous pals who sent them to me. Thank you all so much and I promise to return the love next time...if it doesn't happen again.
Ok now to my happenings. Tuesday we went to Manor Care and we had a good time. It was Roy's 90th birthday so we wore our party hats, yes real party hats and I'm sure mom will post the pix to prove it. We had balloons, cake and everything and it was fun:). Mom's friend Barb went with us again too which is nice. We visited all our friends and it was nice to see Joe and his wife in the rec area. Joe is doing so much better now that his wife is on the same floor and I'm so happy:D
Wednesday mom was busy shopping and running errands after work so we didn't do much, but that changed on Thanksgiving. After mom got home from her Thanksgiving dinner we headed to the mountains and I was sooooooooooo happy!! It has been a month since we went and I missed it. We didn't get there until after dark but I didn't care cuz I was just happy to be there. Dad came up a few hours later.
Today was really cold but we played outside for a while anyway. Then we went antiquing with mom and dad. They found a couple good things. We did take a little walk with mom to throw out some food for the critters. I was all wound up and it was a little icy cuz they had snow so mom made me stop running so my hip didn't slip out again. This stupid hip takes away all my fun:(. Anyway, mom said tomorrow we'll go for a kubota ride but can't stay in the woods long cuz hunting season starts Monday and dad doesn't want us disturbing the deer so I guess no fun in the woods for a couple weeks. Oh we'll at least I'm in the mountains and that's what matters most!
