Arrival Story:
In the past, my parents adopted their dogs and a cat from a local animal shelter, the Philadelphia SPCA (later to be known as Philadelphia Animal Control Association). My soon to be husband was and is highly allergic to cats; therefore I had to leave my cat, 'Little Cat', in the care of my parents. Soon after my husband and I married, we decided to add a new addition to our family. My new house just didn't feel like 'home' with the absence of a furry little pal. The local animal shelter and pet store unite and hold animal adoptions every Saturday. One Saturday morning, my husband and I went to the 'Adoption Day', but all dogs were already pending to be adopted. When then ventured directly to the animal shelter, where you are able to adopt on weekends only. We finally arrived and there were so many dogs and cats just waiting to be adopted. I just wish I could take them all home with me. As soon as we opened the doors into the dog area, there she was Cleo. It was kismet... 'love at first sight' - haha! We just knew when we saw her that she was the perfect dog for us. Cleo is a Chihuahua and Dashaund mix, a very cute, petite, lovable, and an energetic pup. The employees allowed us to have some time with her prior to the adoption. She was just so excited and just wouldn't stop licking us. She just stole our hearts and just had to be a part of our family. Cleo and the other adopted animals have brought tremendous joy into my life and my family's lives. By adopting a pet from an animal shelter you are able to give them second chance at love and life.
