Playing vigorously with his "brother" Chewie and his "cousin" Chia. Sleeping somewhere warm and comfy. Being sung to. Burrowing under bedcovers or through fallen leaves. Staring at his humans intently with a furrowed brow.
Pet-Peeves:
When big dogs take advantage of his "height deficiency." Not being allowed to play roughly with the kittens.
Favorite Toy:
Tiny tennis balls.
Favorite Food:
Pig ears, tastes of people food. Anything that falls to the floor as I'm cooking.
Favorite Walk:
Wherever we go.... it doesn't matter to him!
Best Tricks:
Responding to the question, "Are you hungry, Khyber?" Sitting. Coming in only when called by name. His ability to escape from beneath a blanket in (gasp) less than five minutes of struggling!
Arrival Story:
It was difficult to choose between Khyber and his brother, and I spent perhaps half an hour observing the puppies in the seller's yard. She was selling the full-blooded miniature Dachshunds very cheaply, for only $50, so I was glad to have this rare chance. My husband had sent me to choose, and I wanted to bring home the perfect puppy. But I was so hesitant... I actually chose his brother and put him in the car. I had backed halfway down the drive when I changed my mind and walked back to the pen of dogs with determination. I handed over the brother and picked up MY puppy!We have never regretted it!
Bio:
Khyber is a very good dog, and incrediby polite. He is quite intent, and incredibly aware of our feelings. He likes to do what we are doing... if we want to nap, he sleeps. If we are talkative and playful, so is he. He suits our life very well.

I saw that my brothers and sister wrote a diary, so I had to do it too! I like to do whatever my family is doing. I'm not a copy-cat though. I just go with the flow, ya know!
Sometimes people call me "hyper." Then they call me "lazy." They need to make up their minds, don't they? I'm just happy is all! My life is fun, whether I am sleeping or playing.
I love my new little brother Chewie. What a cool little guy! I guess I shouldn't call him little, though, because he is getting bigger than me already. Everybody is bigger than me! And even the kittens are taller. Heck, I think the snake is taller than me! Oh well. I like me just the way I am. And I can catch my tail, which nobody else can do. It isn't hard, though, I just turn my neck that way and there it is! Let's see D'Argo or Chewie do THAT with their little stumps. Nado wouldn't even try to catch her tail... she is WAY too serious sometimes. I tell her to "chill out," but she just doesn't get it. And to think that she is just one year old, not much older than me. Will I be that uncool when I get old? I hope not!
I guess I should go. Dad just went to bed earlier, and if I am really quiet, I can sneak up there with him. Hee hee hee! Or should I stay in here with Mom while she does some chores? Oh, I can't decide!
