Arrival Story:
Well after Panzer we felt compelled to do something to help out other white shepherds find good homes to take care of them and thats when we discovered "Echo Dogs White German Sheperd Rescue." We applied on the internet the night we found it and by the next day we found out they had begun calling our references, we were super excited. Two weeks later we are very proud foster parents for Echo Dogs.

Bio:
Peyton got his name because he is from the colts state. Even though i live and breath Pittsburgh Steelers, i am a Peyton fan due to his skill, attitude, and his commercials! ('well my brother and i say, its on like donkey kong!'). He had a very rough life, he was tied outside with three other dogs and although he was the biggest he was the low man on the totem pole. Peyton was attacked and dominated constantly for his entire life. Well, Echo got involved and got him out of there quickly and into our home and our hearts. He is very tall, gorgeous dog who we need to pack about twenty or so pounds on. He never went to the vet. until echo found him and luckily he was heartworm negative and all the bite marks on his legs and ears will go away and never come back! he is very very shy of humans and especially of dogs. But just over two days he is up and around the house curious about everything new. Sig and Peyton formed an instant bond the second they met. He was so badly to cuddle with the cats too, its hilarious to watch him. Peyton was terrified of rocko and still will not let rocko behind him, but he is starting to ease into a mutual respect sort of relationship. All in all, we are teaching peyton basic commands (just got him to know what a cookie was and that he liked them) we are also working on teaching the big guy how to play. He is going to make someone an excellent pet and i look forward to keeping everyone informed on his progression. If anyone is interested (pics will be up soon) in adopting Peyton you should go to www.echodogs.org for more information or simply drop us a paw mail!

It is with my deepest regrets that i have to post this, but i unforetunately Peyton was put down on 12/05 due to behavioral problems stemming from anxiety and fear instilled in him by his original 'owners' We did everything we could for him, but in the end Peyton deserved peace and for his pain to end. He was a sweetheart who we fell in love with and although he had a few tustles with Rocko nothing will change that. Alicia was with him in the end and he remembered her and loved her so much that when he saw her he came charging over to her and was like the Peyton we had caught glimpses of during our time caring for him. Peyton passed with his head in the lap of the one and only person he ever bonded with. I am very proud of alicia for her strength, determination, and passion that she possesses. i know that Peyton and Panzer will be side by side waiting both of us when we pass but i know who they will run to first, they will make a beeline for the most compassionate person i know, a woman i am proud to call my wife.

Peyton, we are gratefull for your moments in our lives and for showing us the importance of rescue organizations and the foster homes that work with them. I personally will alwarys remember the time you took a very polite bite of my cheeseburger, I still appreciate that you allowed me to finish it :o)

Peyton has been neutered!! He is recovering well at home. Our other dog Rocko is taking a mini vacation at his grandparents while Peyton heals. We are still having some dog aggression and we are hoping that the neuter, some time apart, and a new intro method will help us get Peyton over this hump. On the upside he met our 4 year old niece the other day and did fantastic. She even gave him a bear hug. Peyton has discovered that cats are play toys he likes to chase after them. He does fine with them with some supervision. He loves our puppy Sig though!!!!!! That's all for now. Please check out www.echodogs.org for more information!!!

The First Few Days

Peyton has started to perk up! He still doesn't understand what playing is or why I keep throwing things and why the other dogs keep fetching them but atleast his tail is up and wagging! He is eating just fine and we are working on our house manners. We are currently housebreaking him which will get better once we get him neutered. He kennels up perfectly and is an excellent walker. He has developed a bit of dog aggression but it was expected since he was dominated his entire life. We are working on fixing that which shouldn't be any problems. I do suggest if you adopt him and you have a dog it should be a lower energy dog. We are introducing him to our young nieces this weekend so I will keep you posted on how that goes, but I expect no problems!!! Remember visit www.echodogs.org for more information on the rescue group and to check out other dogs avaliable for adoption, including Peyton.
