Chasing My Tail and Other Adventures

Leaves, leaves, leaves!

Daddy took me on a walk the other night, and there were lots of leaves blowing around on the ground. Yay! I love it when there are leaves -- I can dig in them, hunt them and pee on them!

Anyway, I saw this one leaf that I really wanted to pee on. I was all set to do it, but then, I saw something wrong with it! It had a spot on the side I was about to do my business on -- and you all know I require a PERFECT leaf! Thank goodness I saw it. I looked at Daddy to see if he'd seen the ugly spot on the leaf, but he must not have good taste in leaves, because he looked confused as to why I put my leg down. So I had to pick up the leaf myself and turn it over to the other side.

Luckily, the other side was not marred. So I peed on the leaf. Afterward, Mommy and Daddy laughed at me for a long time. Hmmph!

There's a doggie in the window!

Last Friday night, I told Mommy and Daddy to go to bed by walking back and forth from the living room to their room until they got the hint. Once they were in bed, Mommy and Daddy invited me to join them, so I jumped up onto their soft, fluffy blanket. I sat down and faced the window like I do every night so that Mommy could pet me straight from my head down my back, but I noticed that tonight she hadn't pulled the curtains over the window.

Well, guess what? There was another dog staring at me from the window! At first, I wagged my tail and tried to be friendly, but the other dog just kept looking at me! Doesn't he know that he's in my home and that I'm top dog? After all, staring means aggression in our language! I'm very forgiving, though, so I barked a few friendly barks, thinking that the other dog just hadn't seen me. He was a little blurry, so maybe I was blurry to him too.

The nerve of that other dog! He kept staring at me even after I'd barked. He also barked a little bit, but no noise came out! So impudent -- mocking my noises! I got mad and growled deep in my throat. For some reason Mommy and Daddy thought this was really funny. Dadddy even went over and blocked my view of the other dog! I think he was petting it, even. Grrr! I growled some more. Daddy pulled the curtain over the window, but I knew the dog was still there. I leapt off the bed and sniffed under the window. I think the dog escaped that night, but I'll sure be watching out for it from now on! After I teach it some manners, maybe we can be friends.

I'm famous!

These days, everyone seems to recognize me! Maybe that's because I made my debut as a male model in the June/July 2005 issue of Details magazine. I know, it has Tom Cruise on the cover, but that's just because I was too gorgeous to put on the cover (you know that they have to save the best stuff for INSIDE the magazine, right?). To see scans of the magazine, go to my mommy's site

My New Bed is Here!

Yay, I have a new bed! Mommy and Daddy bought it from a place that sounds like food -- LL Pea? No, LL Bean! It's so nice. It's just my size, and the pale blue plus yellow vertical stripes are so complementary to my fur color. And it's even got my name stitched on it. Well, I dont care about that part, but Mommy seems really excited about that.

I'm not sure what Mommy and Daddy are thinking, but I'm not going to stop sleeping on their bed just because I have my own. It's just that now I have two beds, in case I get tired of the big bed. I'm also going to try not to eat this bed like I did the previous one ...

Wow, it's been a long time!

Sorry I've disappeared for so long. I've been a busy pup! Let's see, what's happened since the last time I wrote?

Well, I'm now almost 10 months old, and I'm a big boy now! I can go for 12 hours without going to the bathroom (even though Mommy and Daddy still insist on taking me every few hours!), and I can sometimes be free around the apartment when Mommy and Daddy aren't here! I know now that they'll come back for me, so I'm not scared anymore. I still wish they would just stay with me, but I know I'm a high-maintenance dog, and they need to keep that premium organic kibble in my bowl. I wish I could do something nice for them. I know, they will just love it if I rearrange all the cushions on the couch for them. The cushions are so boring, just sitting on the couch. They'd be much nicer on the floor, don't you think?

Oh, and I'm going to start a Tricks class next weekend! I'm so excited to play with all the other dogs and show off my smarts!

It's Time to Go to the "Airport"!

Something exciting is happening today! I know, because Mommy and Daddy didn't go to work. Instead, they filled up these big boxes on wheels. Just now, they put my water bowl and food bowl into one of them. I tried to go get some water, but there was no water in the bowl. Then they closed the box.

And, guess what? I think I will have lots of playmates this week! Mommy said I'd get to play with a chihuahua and a dalmatian, but she said I'd still be the cutest of all. I can't wait!

Hmmm, I suspect something!

Mommy and Daddy keep talking about a trip we're all going to take. Every so often, they bring this big bag out of the closet and put me in it, then they let me out. I don't know why they keep doing this, but every time they put me in it, I get a treat, so I guess I don't mind. The bag is comfy, too -- it has these sides I can see out of, with flaps that come down if I want to sleep. And it has a bottom lining that feels like sheep. At least, Mommy says it feels like sheep. I've never seen or felt sheep, so I just have to take her word for it.

Every time this bag comes out, I hear the words "Thanksgiving" and "California." I wonder what those things mean? I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Yesterday was my half-birthday!

Yes, indeed, I'm now on my way to becoming a teenager! Mommy gave me extra lap time yesterday, and I cajoled her into letting me have a tiny morsel of cake. Yummy! I saw a big box in the hallway that smelled like a lot of good treats, but I guess that's for something my parents keep calling "Christmas," because they didn't give me any gifts yesterday. Oh, except I did get a Greenie. I'm a lucky dog!
