   Leave a bone for Shamu

Nicknames:
My macho dog

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:
-purebred

Birthday:
March 23rd 2008

Arrival Story:
Shamu is Sabrina's brother. He came to me because as I was browsing Sabrina's previous ad, I found out that his brother, Shamu, is still for sale. Out of curiosity, I contacted Jenny to ask her why he has not found a new home and how much is she asking for him. She quoted a ridiculously low price if I will get him. Turns out that after Sabrina left, Shamu got very very depressed. I contacted a brother to ask him if he is interested in getting Shamu. He said yes but that he still have to ask his family. I got Shamu and later, my brother decided he does not want another dog. So I was stuck with Shamu. I was not sure I want another dog but I'm glad he is in my life now. He is the cutest Dumbo of a dog, very stubborn and very sweet.

Bio:
Shamu turns out to be this big ugly version of Sabrina. Where Sabrina was graceful, Shamu waddles with his big feet. The first day he went home with me, he scratch me with his overly long fingernails and pooped in the middle of our living room, creating a huge pile in the marble floor. When I parted his facial hair to look at his face closer, I was surprised at his big, goo-goo eyes that seem like it will fall out of their socket. I told myself, uh-oh, it seems like Shamu will be hard for me to love. And he was a little aloof to me, preferring the company of other dogs than me. I found it hard to housetrain him. But gradually, I came to love him, especially when I was grieving so hard with Sabrina's passing and he would give me his doggy kisses. When I had them trained by a professional, Shamu was the one who cannot be trained. Its not because he is not intelligent but that he is so stubborn. I realized that he was showing his Alpha dog personality and I had to show him that I am the only Alpha in the family. It was a stretch because he is forever testing my leadership. But the minute he realized that there is nothing he can do but obey me, he very gladly relinquished his Alpha role to me. He became a jolly dog, always playful and sweet to me, demanding his share of my hugs and kisses. He became protective of the little Trishie, and later, the little Roxy, who came later into the family. He was like a big brother to them. His only problem is what to do with Errol who is also a male and who came ahead of him and was therefore, initially the Alpha. Over the months, he lost his extra fat. His waddle became muscular stride. His goo-goo eyes were concealed by his luxurious thick coat. He became the handsome devil of a macho dog, the recognized leader of the pack, next to me.
