Dogster stats for Greyhound mix pups need homes
2 Males and 1 female
I rescued 12 greyhound mix pups from horrible conditions this week. The owner abandoned his pregnant female greyhound dog at his mother-in-law's house when he moved away to look for work.
The dog delivered 12 pups in late May. The mother in law is disabled and on very strong pain medication which makes her pretty zonked out most of the time.
The pups were put into a small chicken wire enclosure in a shed. When I discovered them this week they were standing in gravel, soaked in feces and urine and had no food or water. I seized 6 of the pups, took them home, washed them, gave them 7 way shot, wormed them and took them to a shelter in Washington, GA. Our county does not have a shelter nor will the city or county officials fund a shelter. The shelter manager was nice enough to take those 6 pups but has no room for the other six.
I picked the remaining 6 pups up yesterday and repeated the procedure. I already have 6 dogs I've taken in and cannot keep these pups. Although they are mixed breed, all but 2 of them have traditional greyhound characteristics. I am hoping that you may know someone who would offer a good home to them. I've had this batch less than 24 hours and they are already responding to human touch well and would make someone a great dog.
I'm in central GA, just off I-20 about 90 miles from Atlanta, 60 miles from Augusta.
If you know someone who wants a great puppy, please give them my number.
Thanks for your consideration,

Only three pups are still waiting for their new forever homes. Yesterday two puppies went to live with new owners. Progress report is they have already made friends with new kitties and the two old dogs who live there.
All the puppies received their second 7-way shots this week. They are shiny, healthy and full of playful energy!
There are two males and one female left. These three all have very "Greyhound" features with long faces, black with white markings. They are waiting for you to call and invite them into their new home.

I'm pleased that one of the pups has found a new forever home. I've removed that photo so the other five are still yearning for their new mom or dad. These pups have blossomed and grown in the two weeks they've been with me. They will get their second 7 way shot this week. Their coats are glossy, they are full of play and energy. Won't you consider taking one of them into your home?

All six pups are doing great. The first few days they huddled together on the deck most of the time except when I walked them out into the yard for exercise. They followed closely under my feet. Now, their confidence is better and they run through the yard, playing chase, rolling and playfighting in the grass. The little black and tan male has already learned to shake hands. These are smart little pups! When I sit on the ground with them, they cluster around me, each waiting patiently for their turn at a cuddle in my lap. Now that they are being fed several times a day and getting some exercise, the bloated bellies are going away, their coats are getting shiny and the two that were down on their pasterns have straight front legs. Over 100 folks have looked at their profile but no calls yet. I send out wishes to the universe each day that someone who will love these little ones and care for them properly will see a picture and just KNOW that this little spirit is meant to be their forever companion.
