Arrival Story:
Cinnamon is a special girl who has had a hard life. She is 4 years old and was taken from her owner by the police in Mayfield. She is a German Shepard Mix with three legs. Neighbors reported her owner for not feeding or watering her, and police found her with a chain grown an inch down into her neck, tied to a tree. Her chain had to be carefully removed with bolt cutters. She was washed and her wounds cleaned at the shelter, and then vaccinated and tested for heartworms. She tested positive, and has been treated. She also had a benign mammary tumor that was removed. She is in a foster home, and loves attention, toys, and sleeping on a soft bed. She is housetrained now. She will let you know when the right side of her neck needs to be scratched (she is missing the leg she needs to scratch it!). She does so well with people for a dog who was treated so badly. She needs a forever home where she will never be neglected again!

Bio:
Cinny has for the most part gotten along with my other dogs. She is a bit of a 'barnacle' and likes to try and stick to you sometimes. She sometimes gets jealous if she isnt getting attention and someone else is, but if she pushes one of my dogs out of the way, mine just push her back :) She is probably always going to be a little socially awkward with others because of how she was treated by her former owners; she was always tied to a tree and probably felt defenseless when other animals came around. But if she has a little time to get to know a new dog, she usually warms up to them ok. My friend's Great Dane came right up to her one time and just hovered over her trying to sniff her, and she got all wigged out and barked in his face. If he would have been a little slower moving into her personal space, I think she would have taken it better! But she has learned so much in the year I have fostered her. I remember watching her checking out toys, and the day she realized that she could play with them and they were for her. Sometimes if another dog gets close to a toy that she has, she snarfs at them. She plays with some of my dogs, and seems to like to grab their back ankles. I have one dog that gets really mad about the ankle thing, and has jumped on her for it. But everytime that one goes past her, Cinny cant resist nipping one of her ankles. She gets along well with cats, too. When she came home from her spay surgery, two of my cats were very concerned about her and laid on her 'nub' where her other leg should be, I guess trying to make her feel better. She doesnt mind the cats doing that at all, but she chases them away from her food bowl :)
