 Quick Bio:
Likes: Emitting unpleasant odors in polite company. Licking up dirt & mixing it with saliva to form a mud paste, which he slobbers onto humans. Sitting heavily on the feet of the unwary. Engulfing small dogs entirely in his mouth, to be coated with drool.

Pet-Peeves: Being told he is "too big" to sit on one's feet. He dislikes it when small dogs outmaneuver him during play. He has a fear of my husband's car. When I must pick up his "chewing sticks" in order to mow the yard.

Favorite Toy: Squeaky wooly bear that no longer squeaks due to Crushing Jaw Action. Tennis balls. Assorted fallen tree limbs. Small dogs.

Favorite Food: Almost anything will suffice.

Favorite Walk: From wherever he is sleeping to his food bowl! He tends to go on long expeditions into the surrounding woods without us, probably seeking out raccoons.

Best Tricks: Sitting on command. Only coming indoors when invited by name. Fetching assorted objects. "Skitting" after varmints.

Arrival Story: When we saw an advertisment for Rottweiler/Red Tick Coonhound puppies, I immediately called. The next day, I went to meet the huge sire, the sweet-natured dam, and ten fat puppies. Each would grunt when lifted, and their puppy breath was intoxicatingly wonderful. I chose one and held it as I spoke to the seller, claiming it for my own. But when I had to reach into my pocket for the $70, I set the puppy back on the ground, whence it became mingled with its identical littermates. At a loss, I crouched down and called, grabbing up the first puppy which waddled over to me. This was D'Argo.

Bio: D'Argo has been a wonderful dog and friend. He is gentle with every creature... except for racoons and possums, for which he has a natural loathing. With utmost tenderness, he will lick a kitten whose body is smaller than his muzzle. He once brought home a tiny fawn, completely unharmed, and dropped it gently at my mother's command. D'Argo does not seem to realize that he is a huge dog, and will lean against one's legs or sit on any available foot, unaware that he is large enough to knock many people down. His stubby docked tail is always wagging, and he enjoys a rousing game of "got your tail."
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to keep D'Argo. One of our neighbors had been complaining about our dogs, and so we installed an "Invisible Fence." Our small dogs took to it right away, but we have been unable to train D'Argo to stay within its boundaries. Sadly, he now must live on a tie-out. This is no life for an active, playful dog like him. If you can offer D'Argo a good home within a large regular fence or running free on acreage, please contact me. We dearly love Big D, but I can't stand to see him confined as he is now.

Forums Motto: "Can you please offer me a home?"

I'm not too good at writing. Now, I'm not stupid. I'm just impatient. Some of my siblings are better at this than me (especially that snooty-tooty Nado). Besides, my paws are so big that it is hard to type! So please bear with me.
I'm excited because cold weather is here! This is my favorite time of year. It reminds me of when I was a puppy, a couple of years ago. But I'm all grown up now! I have been in such a happy mood lately. Running around and playing in the leaves is fun. The little dogs better watch out... I might step on them by accident! At least Mom said that Chewie will grow up to be a big dog someday, so I will have a playmate that I don't have to worry about smooshing. He won't be as big as me, but bigger than Khyber and Nado at least. They are the size I was when I was just a little puppy! (Well, at least Khyber is... Nado is getting sorta fat. Don't tell her I said that!!!)
One reason I love the winter time is that the possums come, and I get to chase them away. That is my job, or at least that is what Dad says I should do. "Protect the chickens!" So I've got my eyes open and my nose to the wind. But until possums come, I will play with the little dogs in the yard and chase a tennis ball. It will keep my reflexes sharp for the possums.
Oooh, or coons! What if coons come for the chickens? Just the thought makes me mad! My doggy momma told me all about coons when I was little, and I could tell that she really really hated them. So I hate them too! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I better stop writing and get back on patrol.
Bye!
Big D
