Dear God: I am writing today to thank you for sparing my little boys life this weekend. I never thought about how painful it would be to lose him as he is so young and healthy the thoughts aren't here yet. However, we decided to take all four of our dogs on a walk this weekend around the neighborhood with their new harnesses and everyone was very excited about it. None more than Braun. He absolutely loves to go anywhere, even the vet!

As my husband and I headed down the road (I had Braun & Tina and my husband had Austin & Ginger) the dogs were overwhelmed with excitement and wanted to sniff everything. For some reason Braun was especially interested in the smells on the other side of the road which I didn't see as a problem b/c we were looking out for cars and if we heard one coming I had plenty of time to pull him back to me.

After about five minutes into our walk I saw a white truck coming down the road so I announced "car" and we began to pull our dogs closer. When I tugged Tina she came obediently but Braun did not want to come and managed to pull himself out of the harness like a contortionist. As soon as he was loose my husband gave me the other dogs and he went after Braun. I had put my hand up like a traffic cop in order to let the guy know we needed him to stop and my husband was calling Braun's name in order to grab him.

The truck kept coming closer and my husband had still not gotten his hands on Braun. I continued to hold my hand up but it was as if the guy didn't see us. NOT SURE HOW B/C IT WAS A SMALL RESIDENTIAL STREET WITH TWO HUMANS AND FOUR DOGS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD...but, he didn't. I wasn't too concerned because Braun was on the side in a neighbor's yard but in an instant he felt threatened by my husband coming at him, got scared and started running to me – across the street. The last thing I saw was Braun disappear in front of the truck and the truck stopped. I screamed and screamed and my husband cussed the driver out. Turns out he was the neighborhood drunk. We had seen him leave parties on numerous occasions with alcohol in his system only to get in his car and drive. MORON.

The next thing I know Braun comes around the front of the truck to me and I was in tears by then. I was so sure I had lost him. To this very moment I tear up at how close I came to losing my little boy.

Thank you God for saving him. And yes, we are putting him back on a regular collar!
