One week to go before Graduation!

A devestating setback

Two weeks after our graduation from Dog Obedience classes we are in trouble with the law.
Summer rocked on up to a poodle at the park (an off lead area) in her bolshy puppy play with me or else way and grabed a poodle by the neck...
The owner had the poodle on the lead and all hell broke loose. I was trying to leash my older 20 month old and couldnt tend to both dogs at the same time. This is where I let my dogs down, i admit.
The owner was livid (talk about pitbull tendancies!!!) and let me have it. She took my details and called the police.
The dog ranger came to see me to take a statement and meet the criminal puppy. He said he would recommend the charge be dropped as it sounded like a storm in a teacup.
She is not so eager to drop the complaint. She wants me to muzzel her in public. This would mean I agree with her opinion that the puppy is a dangerous dog. I will agree to place the puppy on lead until she has overcome her bolshy puppy ways.
If she doesnt agree to that then we go to the appeal court.
I highly recommend this as a great weight loss diet :)
In the meantime, we are continuing our training at home. Agility course starts early next year and we want to be ready!
Ill hear back next week regarding our power tripping granny and her complaint.
Watch this space.

One week to go before graduation

Well, its been full on training since I brough my wee little wrinkly piglette home from the Humane Society in Auckland. She was so little and cute and training seemed the furtherest from my mind. But I had already enrolled her for puppy pre school and we were so excited to mix and mingle with new puppy friends. Unfortunately the road was windy and slow and the biggest setback was yet to come. Summer got a rotorvirus which nearly took her life. Four days of vomiting and eating very little meant she was on the verge of going on a drip to try to gain weight. But the little fighter pulled through. We missed one session then we were back into it. Come, Sit, Down, Stay were words we were going to know inside out as the weeks progressed.
No sooner were we at puppy pre school when we were graduating and setting our sights on Dog Obedience classes whhooohooo. That was great fun and lots to learn. We were making great progress and learning more about our furry companions with each week. Then came the next level Dog Obediance level 2, we were addicted!
This was the best class, if you had told me my dog would heal off lead I would have laughed, but no seriously, we achieved, together aaaawwww. we have only one more week left of training and Im going to go into withdrawl.... but...we are looking into agility classes to itch the dog training scratch so to speak. Tomorrow we rock on down the agility school to see if its us...Im sure it will be.
How exciting to have a sixth month old puppy who is so very obedient and yearns to learn more. We speak the same language and its a wonderful friendship. What I would ever do without my precious wrinkly baby girl I would never know...
