I helped my grandma today! It was so fun. She was giving a ride to a lady and her teenage son, who is having serious mental and psychological problems. They were both feeling so bad. The son had to be taken to a mental hospital. So, my grandma thought it might comfort them if they rode in the car with a loving poodle. I sat in the boy's lap all the way, and gave him kisses on occasion. He smiled when he got out of the car. It turns out he LOVES dogs.
Sometimes I help Grandma in this way. When I do, she calls me "Mercy Dog." She says I'm good medicine from heaven.

Hello Furends!
Long time no sniff! I've been so busy lately I've barely had a chance to bark up the news. The tails have been wagging overtime as my new buddy Chief moved in a few weeks ago, right across the hall. That means that 4/6 apartments in the building have dogs! Someday, all the non-dog lovers in the building shall be converted! Dogs furever!
Anyway, Chief is a big, slightly elderly Golden Retriever. At first I was a bit suspicious cause, you know, I didn't get a chance to meet him. Then, the woman I own had to go out, and so when I was taking her downstairs I met him taking HIS human out! So we said hi, introduced ourselves with a few inquisitive barks, and then he came into my apartment!
Pretty soon I realized that he wasn't going to break anything, so I followed him into HIS house. It looked a lot like ours, but it has his doggy smell everywhere instead of mine. While I went exploring a little bit, he brought his big toy doughnut over and wagged his tail. Now I want a toy doughnut too!
Anyway, I
This is Tasha. Sheleg went racing out the minute she heard that clicker thingy without even saying goodbye! Now, isn't that just like a Poodle? Well, since she's busy getting her treats, I suppose I'll have to step in for her. So, um...Bye!

Hello Everywoof,
Sorry I haven't writed in a while. What can I say? I was busy talking with Baloo the Samoyed and threatening Miko the Cat.
Well, it's that time of year again. My coat was getting too shaggy so they took me to Da Groomer. Sufficient to say, It was NOT a blast.
But the worst thing was that all Da Groomer did was make my hair look all poofy, and now my head looks REALLY small in proportion to the rest of me. Gah!
I was really tired afterward, so I DOGnapped all day. The Canaries were very sympathetic and trilled their comforting words.
Tasha was, as usual, grumpy. I think she's PMSing. Maybe I should give her away to the school's pet project. Ha ha! Just kidding, Tash.
Well, I have to get off now. Tasha wants to check her Pawmail at HWU headquarters (Hamsters of the World United)
Bye for now,
Sheleg

Dear Woofs,
Sorry that i didn't write for a century. As you can see by the title, the computer was sick. Baloo (the dog from upstairs) said it had a cookie. If it did, why didn't the humans give it to me? I'd eat it for free! the geek they took it to ate it and they PAID him to do it! The nerve of some humans!
Baloo also said that the computer had a Birus. What is a birus and what does it do?
So anyway, they took the it to a geek who operated on it.
While the computer was in the emergency ward, there were a few main things that happened:
1 We got another Guinea Pig, a big black one named Shira. (see pictures)
2 Apparently, Shira was already pregnant cause pretty soon out popped the Guinea Three! (see pics)
3 The girl started school :(
4 The next door neighbors came back from vacation and decided that the whole town needed to hear their conversations
5 People from Egypt started complaining about the racket, and the Chinese said to yell a bit louder, there were a couple people in Beijing that couldn't her them.
That being said, not much happened. Nothing to write home about.
Your Israeli POODLE,
Sheleg

Hello furs,
Today I am sorry to announce that Daisy is deceased. She died early this morning. But now she's at the Rainbow Bridge. A Guinea Rainbow Bridge.
Now we have one last Guinea, Chuck, and we're going to get him two more GPs. Not because we want to replace Daisy, but simply because Chuck is so shocked by the whole thing.
Well, I have to run. Dogs are barking, motorbikes driving, cats meowing. I have to catch up on the latest gossip. Ciao!

Hello Everywoof,
Today, I have bad news and good news. I'll start with the bad news.
Daisy the GP gave birth a few days ago. One pup was a stillborn, the other two lived 3 days. And now Daisy is very sick. We're taking her to the vet tomorrow. More news soon.
The good news? Well, Daisy's children are now in Heaven, where there is no more suffering, and are now living a j0y-filled life. If Daisy goes to join them, I'm sure she'll be in perfect happiness too.
Apart from Daisy, the rest of us are fine. Tasha is just as firey as ever, and if she's mad at me for not putting her picture on my page, it's her fault that she won't stay still! =)
Beside the whole Guinea Pig Scenario, nothing's happening here. I'll be going up to Jerusalem for a few days to visit some of my human pals.
So, until next time, fellow furs.
Sheleg

Hello fellow furs;
Today is my Birthday. I am 3 yrs old today!
To celebrate this Birdday, we went for a looooooooooooooong ride in the car. That wasn't so interesting, but it was good to feel the AC on such a hot day!
Then, we got out of the car and hiked up this woodsy trail. They even let me off the leash for a while! THAT was fun!
(There IS a downside; I got covered in burs! I was always straying from the trail to sniff markings and dens. I almost caught a quail!)
Then, we went back into the car and rode some more. When we stopped, we got out and went on another trail, but it had less flora, more fauna (by fauna I mean birds; they were everywhere!). Then I got half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
Yahoo!
Then we drove all the way back home. Tonight I will probably sleep in the big human bed, but I usually do that anyway.
Well, that's it for now. I'm really, really tir--zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Surprised woofs to you all,
Today i found out that soon we're going to have more than two guinea pigs! In about a month, Daisy will have kids!
The Humans are very excited, but I don't know what to think. We've tried to breed more than one species in our house hold: the canaries, for instance. We got a female for Raj, but when we put them together, they started fighting. To make a long story short, they were BOTH girls. We weren't sure at first, but then they both lay eggs (unfertilized, of course) and we were convinced. Now we have to call Raj Rani. The Humans also tried to parakeets, but something happened. I don't know what.
The only succesful 'breeding' was quite by accident. Here's the story.
Once, the humans brought home something that looked like a big green fruit (see my first picture). They said they found it by the edge of the road. I looked at it for a while-then t moved. It was a tortoise!
We didn't know it then, but keeping a tortoise was not only fun-it was illegal. When we found out, we took it out into the wild. But then, two months later, what do we see but a little baby tortoise!
In the end, though, we had to put it with it's mother. No more tortoises for us.
The same thing happened to our first guinea pig. Now, it's Daisy's turn!
Let's hope it works.
Love and licks from Israel,
Sheleg

Hello furrends,
Today Sheleg was busy, so she asked me, Tasha the Mouse, to take over for the day.
Some of you may have heard of me; I'm Sheleg's lieutenant and second-in-command. I am a Siberian Hamster and proud of it. (Yes, I know, I called myself a Mouse in the first line. It's just a nickname, given to me by Sheleg.) And, if you MUST know, I'm about the size of a paw.
I'm new to this 'diary' thingy, so I'm not sure what to write. I think Sheleg would want me to answer the riddle she wrote (see previous diary page).
The answer, really, is quite simple. You don't even have to leave Sheleg's page to find it!
And so the answer is: a guinea-pig. Yes, it's true. To see what they look like, there's a picture of them on S.'s page (and not a SINGLE picture of me, though I've been her loyal second-in-command for almost a year now. Well, that's gratitude for you).
As for their "vocabulary", they sound like a big animal farm rolled into one tiny fuzzy body. Mostly, they cluck, but in the middle of the night they often have purring fits. This is coming from their nocturnal neighbor, Tasha the bat-eared. But what Sheleg neglected to mention is they also squeal like a pig.
Guineas are also rodents, like me, which means they'd eat any growing thing, from watermelon to weeds. And boy, do they go for it! You should see the way they eat grapes!
And of course, being a rodent means that you have very strong teeth, so if they yawned right in front of you you'd see their long, sharp teeth. But it also means that you sometimes have speech problems- you'd probably tok wike dif.
And no, guinea pigs aren't usually aggresive. I met with them twice; they were actually scared of me.
I think my time is up here. Sheleg will write soon, and she'll probably tear this apart with her critisizing.
So good-bye, dear Furs,
Lt. Natasha the Mouse.

To all Furs who love riddles,
Here is little puzzle for you smart Furs. See if you know the answer!
I have whiskers like a mouse,
A nose from a hare,
Eyes like a weasel,
And ears from a bear.
I purr like a kitten,
I cluck like a chick,
I'd eat any leaf,
I'll munch every stick.
Now add to my body
The teeth of a beaver
Yet I never fight,
I rarely bite, either
To discover the answer,
You don't need to look far,
Answer this riddle, and
Tell us what we are!
If you want to answer, send me a p-mail or leave a comment!
Fuzzy hugs and lots of licks,
Sheleg
