I went to the groomer today, which means I smell funny and can't keep my eyes open. So while I sleep it off, you can read some random facts about me. My pals Shula and Mini had this in their diaries; I just copied it.

How old was your typist when they got their first dog?
She was 8. Her mom didn't like dogs, but a relative offered them a little dachshund named Eddie. After only a week, her mom made them give him away again. She didn't get anther dog until she was all grown up.

Has your typist ever been bitten by another dog?
No.

Spaghetti - with or without meatballs?
Who needs the spaghetti?

What is your typist’s favorite song right now?
Right now? "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen. Don't ask me why!

How many dog parks do you have in your area?
Gazillions. Well, six or seven that I go to regularly.

What was the last movie that your typist went to see?
"Up"

Is animal shampoo tested on humans?
It should be.

How often do you get your teeth brushed?
Oh look! A bird...!

Collar or harness?
Collar.

Do fish get thirsty?
Only if they eat pretzels.

Where is the last place your typist went to for vacation?
St. Louis, to see my daddy's pawrents.

PetSmart, Petco or _____?
Pet Food Express. We go to all three.

Besides Dogster, what’s another one of your typist’s favorite web sites?
Besides Dogster???!!!

Have you ever caught a squirrel?
I've never even seen a squirrel...

Are you more of a sniffer or a licker?
Sniffer. I don't do tongue.

When’s the last time you were at the vet?
Last Saturday, for a shot.

How many packets of Kool-Aid would it take to fill the ocean?
Eleventy bazillion, give or take a few.

Does your typist spend more than two hours a day on Dogster?
Way more! Daddy wants to turn her in to Dr. Phil.

What’s the name of the dog on the Cracker Jack box ?
Bingo

If you could meet any ‘famous’ dog past or present, who would it be?
Maybe Ch. Obo II, the first "official" cocker spaniel. (Well, he's famous to us!)

The bad and the good...

No quiet weekends here! Yesfurday morning we went to the vet dogter where I got a shot. That was no problem, I didn't even feel it. But mommy just can't leave well enough alone. Asked about my weight, asked about my toofies, asked about my ears. Oh no, not the ears! Okay, maybe they're a little pink. They aren't bothering me. But they bother mommy. The vet dogter called it a pre-infection condition, common to cocker spaniels. It's cuz we have floppy ears and small ear canals. Whatever those are. So now I have to have drops two or three times a week. Grrrr on ear drops!

Today I got to spend the whole day at the Wag Hotel! Here's my report card: "Always a pleasure to see Hershey in 'All Day Play.' He's such a great guy! He plays so well with all the dogs, and they all love him! He has quite a few pals now. His old buddy Stewart (Brussels) was here! Hershey had lots of fun today!" That made mommy and daddy happy! I'm pretty tired. I don't know what mommy and daddy were doing, but they're exhausted!

Beach Day

Today we all got in the car--always a good thing!--and after kind of a long ride we got out again and we were at the Other Beach. This is the one with the grainy, coarse kind of sand where I'm not allowed off-leash. It's okay, though, because mommy puts a long, long, long rope on my collar and it's pretty much like being off-leash. I especially liked it there today, because it was cloudy and cool. Very comfortable for a chocolate doggie!

Mommy and daddy usually play with their toys on this beach, but today they just sat there eating. So I went sniffing around and found a lot of good stuff to chew on, including a piggy ear that some other fur was nice enough to leave behind! Mommy didn't really want me to have it, but I would NOT give it up, and daddy was on my side. (I LOVE my daddy!) I also found a lot of long, brown tuby things. They smelled just like the green stuff I peed all over at the Powdery Sand beach, but here they were all dried out and crunchy. I chewed a bunch, but didn't actually swallow any. They were salty, and made me very thirsty! Mommy wonders if my tummy will be upset, but so far all I am is sleepy! BOL! :::yawn:::

Some days, I think mommy and daddy are trying to wear me down to a rug. See, the thing about my mommy and daddy is, they like to walk. I mean, they could walk to the moon and back and not even start panting. And they seem to think because I have twice as many legs, I can too!

So today when it was time for my brush-and-walk, instead of the usual tour around our neighborhood, mommy and I headed up to the big street. I know what that means: we're going to the petfood store!! I couldn't get there fast enough, and it's no short walk. I pulled and pulled on mommy all the way, BOL!! And when we got there I got a new toy and some bones! I didn't even notice how hard I had worked to get there, until...we had to go all the way back. Now mommy had to pull on me.

I barely got settled in to rest when mommy was putting the leash on and we were off again. This time we didn't go far, just to our neighborhood park. But when we got there, a whole bunch of other doggies and their people were there, and there were free treats for dogs and humans, and I had a great deal to do, meeting and greeting everyfur and making sure no treats fell on the ground unnoticed. Finally daddy met us there, and he had some human treats and we all walked home.

Now, you might think that would be that. But oh, no. After dinner (a very small dinner, I might add! Because of the extra treats, mommy said. Bad mommy!), daddy put the leash on and we went for a very long walk while he talked into the little box he always carries in his pocket. It was AFTER DINNER! We only take short walks after dinner.

I think they're trying to wear me out. Tomorrow I'm not going anywhere!

Yestfurday morning mommy changed me into my red-white-and-blue collar and leash. Here's what always happens when I wear that: we get in the car and go someplace where mommy and daddy eat outside, and I get extra treats and sometimes some of their food drops on the ground and then it's MINE. Yestfurday I got a couple of crackers. Mommy and daddy were watching a bunch of humans wearing red coats and making noise with shiny things in their mouths. After that we went walking where I sniffed a lot of trees and flowers, and then we came home. I was still tired from the day before, but every time I drifted off something would go BANG! and I had to bark. It was a long night.

Today I got to spend the day at the Wag. I was still pretty tired, but I went to two play groups. Here is my report card: "I made new friends named Coco and Sammy and Moody and Sampson. Coco, Sammy and I had a cocker spaniel love fest during playgroup. We were 'unseparatable!' I am so sweet and all of the Wag staff love me. I enjoyed my day stay!" I love the Wag people, too, but I was sure happy to see mommy and daddy when they came to get me. Boy, am I gonna sleep tonight!

Worth the trip!

Today started like most other days, with me waking daddy up early. That's one of my jobs. Today, though, mommy and I didn't say bye-bye daddy. Instead, all of us got in the car and went for a l-o-o-n-g ride. We didn't go to the place where we usually go, where the grapes grow. On this ride the ocean was on my mommy's side of the car instead of my daddy's, and the ride was a lot longer.

When we got there, I got to go off-leash, and there was the ocean! Now, I don't like the water and I was very careful not to get too close. Not like daddy, who got his feet all wet. Mommy and I stayed dry and just walked in the sand. Well, mommy walked. I mostly ran, back and forth between mommy and daddy. There were lots of other dogs there, and their very nice people. I remembered this place. We've been there before. The sand there is like soap powder, all soft and white. And there is a funny kind of green stuff, some kind of plant that smells like the ocean. I don't know what it is, but I peed on as much of it as I could.

We walked all the way to the end of the beach and back again. I was so tired and thirsty, even though I had drinks of water along the way. I thought we'd get in the car and go home then, but I forgot there is also a town, with places mommy and daddy like to go in and look at human stuff. Usually, that means one of them goes inside and the other waits with me outside. But in this town, I can go right in every place with them. I see why they like it! I never smelled so many different things in one day! I met a lot of dogs in the town, too. And the best place of all was full of dog toys and treats and leashes and bowls and, well, just everything! What a great place!

The drive back was also long. By the time we got home it was dark out. Daddy is already asleep on the couch, and I'm going to bed, too. Good night!

The Chocolate Pearl

The days I love the best are when mommy and I don't have to say "Bye-bye daddy" in the morning. This morning daddy and I got up early as usual, but after our walk around the block we curled up on the couch and pretty much stayed there. Eventually mommy got up and went out and came back again with bags of human food and some bully sticks for me. By that time daddy was ready to go out, too, so he took me to Fort Fun where I ran and played and met some very nice furs! Then we all got in the car and went to the place where sometimes daddy gets out and mommy and I come back home without him. That's when the real fun began!

You see, I've been lugging this pirate ship all over Dogster for days and days, looking for a pool to launch it in. I went to one pool party last week, but no one was there. But yesfurday my pal Mini invited me to another one, and it was today. Wowf, was it fun! When I got there I took a running jump and SPLASHED! into the pool with my ship, now christened the Chocolate Pearl, and sailed around playing pirate games with a great fur named Checkers. "Avast thar!" "Shiver me timbers!" (I'm a pretty fierce pirate!) More and more furs came, including Mini, and Daisy, and so many more I can't even name them, and we splashed and floated and ate and there was music and we just had a furrific time. Then a HUGE INTRUDER came! At first we couldn't see him, but it was an elephant! And he was trying to drink all the water out of the pool! But someone had brought giant peanuts and we used them to lure him away and I even put them in my ship's cannons and BOOM! BOOM! ran him off! I also found a treasure with my map, but I'm keeping that secret for another time.

Well, we were just playing, of course, but I really love my pirate boat that Frodo gave me and I think it's sea-worthy enough to last the whole summer! Long live the Chocolate Pearl!
